Just getting a chance to check mails, I see you volunteered yourself
today- however if you are still looking for someone to help here I'm
happy to pitch in. No experience with bugzilla but I'm a pretty quick
study usually.

Changing toolbar Icons

For LibreOffice 3.3 beta,

Does anyone know if the toolbar Icons will be changed in future releases?

Does anyone know if it is possible to change them in a current installation?

just curious and I did not find this information on the wiki.

Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> View: under "Icon size and style"
you have several icon themes to play with ;)

Yes, I'm joking.

As was explained to me - it is not just that it is a huge job, it is a
monstrous job that would essentially require rewriting the entire code
base from scratch. I have also heard horror stories from very
experienced programmers when they start getting into the code.

So, again, no one is saying this wouldn't be a wonderful thing, it is
simply not something that is feasible at the moment.

And again, the point is, these core LO libraries used by each (assuming
you mean used/shared by all packages) consist of 98% of the size of the
download, so the cost/benefit ratio is just not worth it.

As joking as you may be, I for one would do so if I had the time.
As it is - I might in a few months, but I can't guarantee it right now.

The cost/benefit would _be_ worth it.

And that is exactly why it would be worth it. If experienced developers are 
having trouble
getting into the code, then just imagine how much the code itself is turning

I'm not sure if it was present on OOo 1.x (even if I'm using OOo since
pre 1.0 times, my memory is not what it was... oh well), but the
ability to change icon themes is present on OOo since a loooong time.
3.3 just added Oxygen theme, for the happiness of we, kde users.
I don't use OOo portable, so no idea...

As has been pointed out before, the people at www.PortableApps.com are 
the ones that make the portable version.  If the option to change the 
icons is not there then they removed the code.  They are the ones that 
you need to be talking to.
