Reinteract-ROX 0.1

Reinteract-ROX 0.1 (a system for interactive experimentation with
python) has been released.

You can install it by entering this URL into AddApp:

  http://rox.sourceforge.net/2007/interfaces/Reinteract.xml

For more information, including package downloads, see:

  http://roscidus.com/desktop/Reinteract

Reinteract was written by Owen Taylor. I just added drag-and-drop
saving and packaged it up for ROX. There's a tutorial on what I did
here, which might help other people repackaging other programs:

Configuration of of Send-to...menu entry in rox-filer

Hi,

how can i configure the Send-To... menu entry to send files to my
email apllication as attachment? I am using claws-mail 3.1. So the
command needed would be 'claws-mail --attach file'?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Sounds like it. Does it work? I assume you've made a little script such
as this:

#!/bin/sh
claws-mail --attach "$@"

Attaching a right-click menu to a combobox

I am writing a panel app which consists only of a single combo box. Is
there a way to attach a menu to it?
Attempting to attach the menu to the combobox itself, or to an eventbox
containing it, gives the following error:
AttributeError: 'gtk.EventBox' object has no attribute 'add_accel_group'

Attaching it to the rox.applet.Applet doesn't give any error, but it
simply fails to work - right-clicking does not produce the menu.

Is there any way to get this to work?

Just installed it in VMWare. Very cool! It boots fast, and uses ROX
for the desktop environment with lots of appdirs. Most of the apps
download the latest version the first time you run them, using Zero
Install.

The only problem is that it doesn't seem to be maintained any longer.
The last update was July 2006.

I suppose that's a good demonstration of Zero Install in some ways;
even though the distribution isn't being maintained, you still get the
latest versions of many of the programs!

The default choice of apps seems a bit odd, though. It contains the
ROX-Session settings applets, but it isn't running ROX-Session by
default, so they don't do anything!

Also, the copy of ROX-Filer used for the desktop doesn't seem to be a
Zero Install version. If you explicitly click on ROX-Filer then it
tries to download a newer version. This is probably because the
version of 0launch didn't support that well back then, but with recent
versions you could just pre-load the cache with the latest copy and
let it update in the background.

I got a problem with this:
  right now my Rox-filer doesn't print correctly french accents
resulting in severals things:

1) rox menus are no visible entry menu (entry with accents i presume)
2) use Permissions or Delete menu entry (or keys shorcuts to them) make
Rox-Filer just disappears !
3) if i launch Rox-Filer in debug mode:
 $ LANG=fr_FR.utf8 rox -n

(ROX-Filer:19496): Pango-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 string passed to
pango_layout_set_text()

(ROX-Filer:19496): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to
error parsing markup: Erreur la ligne 1 caractre 19:

Re: ROX-Filer 2.7 - please test!

Trying to open the panel options gives me this:

(ROX-Filer:21559): libglade-WARNING **: could not find glade file
'/home/lennon/.cache/0install.net/implementations/sha1new=6b8b034318a9bb7590338633e8f62774576e4ab1/ROX-Filer/Templates.glade'

And the dialog fails to show up.

In the 'Are you sure you want to remove the panel?' dialog, the 'Ok'
button should probably be relabeled 'Remove Panel'

Some MIME detection appears to have broken - particularly in regard to
contents inspection. For example, the
file containing my email signature (called 'Signature') is detected in
2.6 as text/plain and in 2.7 as application/octet-stream . Similarly, I
have some magic set up to detect Zero Install Feeds , being: start with
<?xml , <interface in chars 0:256 , xmlns="..." in chars 0:256 . This
works properly in 2.6, and is broken in 2.7 . But, eg, PDFs still
work, even when not named with the .pdf suffix.

WorkspaceList 1.0 - displays workspaces in a list

WorkspaceList is a panel applet which displays workspaces in a
dropdown list, by name. It allows easy creation, deletion, and renaming
of workspaces from its context menu. In theory you can go to a
workspace by typing its name, or create a new one by typing a name that
isn't in the list - however, on my system at least, it doesn't appear
to be able to get keyboard focus. Any help getting this to work would
be appreciated!

Zero install interface and download links can be found at

It seems to be missing a dependency on ROX-Lib...
