It doesn't work. Or at least, only the toolbar style
(icon/text) works, and it only sometimes works (Galeon
but not the Filer, f'rinstance). Does it require
application support? Is there any way to get around
it? There are occasions when tear-away toolbars would
be useful, but nothing seems to respond. (I presume
the Filer's toolbar style option overrides Tb&M's. Is
there any way to stop it from overriding it?)

Toolbar style works in two ways. One is per xsetting. This works with
most gnome core apps (yelp, epiphany). The second is by setting the
/desktop/gnome/interface/toolbar_style gconf key. This works e.g. with
fileroller and bluefish. ROX-Filer doesn't use gconf and also ignores
the xsetting. Instead you have to set it from Options. I don't know if
Thomas plans ROX-Filer to obeye to xsettings in the future.
Each application author can freely decide which type of setting to use
or he may ignore both kinds and implement its own preferences, like
ROX-Filer does. "Show Icons in Menus" and "Detachable toolbars" do not
correspond to an xsetting, but a gconf key only. So those have only an
effect on Gnome apps. ROX itself has no shared preferences for this.

So yes, I hope in the future you will be able to set the toolbar style
for ROX-Filer from this configlet. I could only make that work now by
manualy parsing Choices/ROX-Filer/Options. But that seems like a hack.

I just like to inform everyone here that I won't update the
rox-session.deb's anymore. I still use rox and rox-session, but I don't
have the time and skills to create *good* rox-session.deb-files. So, I
think it is better that someone else takes over the creation of
rox-session.deb's.

But hey, don't be afraid, I won't go away ;-)
The coming days I'll try to update the Dutch translation of the new rox and
rox-session.

OK, thanks for all the work!

Note that if you want to use ROX-Session from Debian, you can also use the
zero install debian packages, and get the whole desktop that way.

Debian packages:

Sources:

	http://zero-install.sourceforge.net/install.html

(perhaps someone could test it and update the wiki?)

RELEASE: OroboROX 0.8.6.4

OroboROX 0.8.6.4
================
This is a lightweight window manager specially designed for the ROX
Desktop.

It is still under development but works quite well already, so feel free
to try it out. The most important things to fix is a bug with
window-cycling (Alt+Tab) while there is iconized windows, and to add
Xinerama support and better EMWH compliance.
This new version has a totally new system of options: Themes and Schemes
are packaged as appdirs, and the other Settings + included themes and
schemes are now located in OroboROX/Configure/ (just right-click the
icon and choose "Options..." and you will get there).

Please let me know if any more info about my system (PIII w.128M) will

I seem to be unable to run this. I tried to set it as the default
desktop for ROX session but get the error message 'Unable to execute'
... 'permission denied'

Is there a particular place the App should be placed or some special way
it should be compiled. I don't seem to be able to find any instructions.

RELEASE: WinList 003

New version of WinList:

It's a simple panel applet that pops up a menu of all open window,
either on the current workspace only or on all workspaces, and lets you
select one of them to activate it.
In other words, it could be a good alternative to a taskbar if you don't
want to fill up your panel...

This time it's written in pure python and does NOT need wmctrl
installed. So, just fetch the package, unarchive it and drop it on your
panel and it should work. (Please tell me if it doesn't).

Add the path to OroboROX's AppRun to ~/Choices/ROX-Session/WindowMans
e.g. /usr/local/apps/OroboROX/AppRun
Now you can select OroboROX as your window-manager from ROX-Session's
Options.

You will have to enter the whole path to the AppRun script in
ROX-Session.
like this: "/usr/local/apps/OroboROX/AppRun"

(this is due to ROX-Session not supporting AppDirs yet!)

No, you can place it anywhere.
