rox_1.1.0-1_i386.deb

Hello,

Phew, I have just upgraded my Debian system with the necessary files to
compile ROX 1.1.0 and have created a deb-file for it.

I will upload rox_1.1.0-1_i386.deb to http://home.tiscalinet.be/linux-asm/rox/

If I find some more time I will update the Dutch translation.

BTW. I really like the Translation Option that is present in rox_1.1.0. :-)

ROX-Filer 1.1.1

I've put a new release of the filer on the web site:

	http://rox.sourceforge.net/rox_download.php3

It's a developer release, so you may wish to stay with the current
stable version, although the new one should be OK.

The filer now requires libxml to be installed (available from the GNOME
site).

New features:

- `Set Icon' menu item allows any file or directory to be displayed
using any icon (Diego Zamboni). This means you can set icons for the
  mount points now. Screenshot:

  	http://rox.sourceforge.net/

Andrzej Borsuk provided the rather nice icons shown:

  	http://www.alfaelektro.com.pl/~fred/ROX-Filer/

- Applications can define additional menu items to appear on their popup
menus (Diego Zamboni). The syntax will probably change in the next
  release.

- The pinboard grid step is now configurable (Diego Zamboni).

- Improved compiling - now correctly reports an error if the file doesn't
compile. If configure is missing then autoconf is run automatically.

RPM spec files ?

Hello.

I would like to see (and reuse) the RPM spec files
the RPM packages of rox and rox-base used for the
RPM packages. Maybe you should publish the SRPMS
packages too.

Thanks.

The 0.1.28 specs are on the FTP site... I don't think they changed much/at
all for 1.0.0 (which should be at home somewhere...).

compiling bug with --with-vfs

The --with-vfs option to configure which was added by a patch from Diego
Zamboni (i think)
an is now included in the latest development release adds '-R<prefix>' to
the linking commandline.

Unfortunately my gcc doesn't recognise this option. Could someone fix the
configure script, please?
It's on line 1729. I have no clue about autoconf, so I can't figure out a
method to detect the necessity of '-R'.

Greetings, Chris

OK, I've put the latest source RPMs up there too...

Icons on the panet

I'm new user of Rox-Filer and I've one question (on the begining ;).
Could I run Rox-Filer like kfm - icons on the desktop?
I saw a screenshot and it's looks like it could by run like that.
I'm using Window Maker.

Welcome!

Yes you can. You have to use the -p option (or --pinboard, which is
what ROX-Filer calls the desktop) with the name of the pinboard you
want to use. For example:

	rox -p MyPinboard

The name is arbitrary. This means that you can have multiple pinboards
(say, for different projects or stages of your work) and switch between
them at will, simply by using the appropriate name.

On some window managers (like icewm, which I use), you also have to
use the -o option for ROX-Filer to properly manage the desktop:

	rox -o -p MyPinboard

Note that once ROX-Filer is running, any commands you execute will
be executed by the already-running program, so you can add or remove
panels, and change pinboards without restarting rox.

Cheers,
--Diego

Thenk you. I was trying that before but when I didn't see any icons on my
desktop I thought that something is wrong :)
Maybe it's good idea to "put" some (one - home directory) icons on that
pinboard after first run.

Ah, yes, the pinboard is initially empty. You have to drag things on it from
filer windows.
