drivers not loading (mac os x)

Dear all,

I am new to SQuirrelSQL and seem to have a problem loading the drivers. In the lists of drivers none of the
drivers are loading. As the manual hints this may be due to the fact that the files necessary to load the
driver are in a different path than expected by SQuirrel. However, I installed everything according to
the 'default' settings. Also, all the paths and files mentioned in the change-driver-window just below
"Java Class Path" are on my computer and in the right place. I tried removing and re-installing SQuirrel,
but that gave me the same results. I would be particularly interested in the mysql driver. I am using
SQuirrelSQL 3.2.1 on a macbook pro, mac os x 10.6.6.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Richard

Re: drivers not loading (mac os x)

Hello,

The SQuirreL installer doesn't ship JDBC drivers.  You should download the mysql connector jdbc driver and copy it into the SQUIRREL_INSTALL_DIR/lib folder, then restart SQuirreL.

In case your wondering about the optional mysql plugin, it extends SQuirreL to enhance it's capabilities when working with a mysql database.

Re: iSeries data and CCSID

This may not answer your question, but it may help with background. And I have not done a lot with it.

The table you are reading is tagged with a CCSID (37, for example, is USA English.)  However, there is also 65535, which is hex and is not translated.  (Strictly speaking, individual columns can also be tagged with a CCSID on more recent OS versions.)

There is also a CCSID associated with the servicing job on the iSeries.

Some systems have a default of 65535 for both files and jobs.

The “DB2 for i SQL Reference” http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v6r1m0/index.jsp?topic=/rzahg/icmain.htm has lots more info on CCSIDs.  It can be pretty convoluted.

 HI all,

How do I change the CCSID for data returned from an SQL statement where the db is on an iSeries.

Re: Squirrel with Netezza

Get the JDBC driver through your IBM / Netezza support channel.  The plugin extends SQuirreL but is not a JDBC driver.

Re: drivers not loading (mac os x)

Richard,

I've always used the mysql connector and haven't had many problems with it.  Do select the MySQL optional plugin (which is not a driver) when installing SQuirreL for a better object browsing and script execution experience.

Re: Squirrel with Netezza

Hi Matt,

Thank you very much. Was able to get working with Netezza – using Extra Class Path TAB (now changed as per your suggestion).

Does the SQuirrel SQL client also allow editing of procedures, or just view – (that is what the plug-in documentation suggests)

Also, would you, or anybody else on the forum be able to advice if <<Aginity - Netezza Workbench>> is better when working with Netezza.

Cheers, Jojo

Searching archives...

Hi all,

I went to

SourceForge.net > Projects > SQuirreL SQL Client > Mail > Archive

to check the archives if my question had been answered before.

Forgive me but I could not find a way to search the archives.  I can see past posts but I'm trying to avoid having to scan each page.  Am I missing something or is this feature not available.

Thanks,
