Re: Problem compiling under FreeBSD

Hi all,
attached, see the patch that allows rrdtool 1.1.x (2004-04-29) to compile
on freebsd. However, it doesn't mean that RRFW works fine (still some
problems with image dimensions and decorations).

In addition, it introduces two configure options:

  --disable-rrdcgi disable building of rrdcgi
  --disable-pthread disable multithread support

It also fixes some minor compatibility issues for autoconf2.5.9 and automake1.8.2.

Please test it on your OSes, and integrate into the sources.

Cheers,
Stan

rrdtool 1.1.x: summary of some (small) problems

Hi,

now that I'm up to date with rrdtool sources, here are some issues:

1. Vertical axis label is now turned 90 degrees clockwise, while 1.0.x
draws it countercloclwise. Personally, I'd prefer the old style, it seems
more readable to me.

2. The RPN compilation fails for time of day decorations in rrfw.

3. RRDs::graph now returns the dimensions which are (at least, image width)
smaller than the actual PNG. I'm relying on this information, and it screws the
output a bit.

I'll dig deeper into issues 2 and 3. Any hints on no. 1?

Stan

Tobi, I need your help on this one. I can't figure it out why the PNG image dimensions
are higher than returned by rrd_graph. For example, for a 350x100 graph,
rrd_graph reports 430x152 image size, and the produced PNG has 450x166 pixels.

Re: Problem compiling under FreeBSD

Wonder if "--enable-local-cgi" instead of
"--disable-rrdcgi" would make the configure options
more consistent with "--enable-local-libpng" and
"--enable-local-zlib". Maybe even a new
--enable-local-libs to catch all three...

found this one: it's not a malfunction, it's a feature...

In 1.0.x, the image dimensions did not depend on title and vertical label,
and now they do.

Re: Problem compiling under FreeBSD

Folks,

these options are long gone ... the current rrdtool snapshot does
not contain any libraries anymore ...

cheers

Hi Stan,

I just looked through the code, I can't fanthom why you get

Suggested change to MakeMakefile

Tobi,

You're often using newer versions of the tools than "bleeding edge"
fedora core.

And again I logged in, got a new automake, logged off and needed
to log in again to fetch the new autoconf.

So, please, (and this includes a bugfix around line 53):

--- MakeMakefile.orig	2004-03-14 21:58:32.000000000 +0100

 }

 then
echo "get a copy of GNU libtool >= 1.5"
