cygwin rrdtool pkg

SUMMARY
-------
Patch accomplishes addition of --enable-local-libpng
and --enable-local-zlib allowing packagers of rrdtool
to either use libpng and zlib code included with
RRDtool (default) or use local OS's installed shared
libraries.  Also a cygwin package is created using
local OS zlib and libpng.  I consider this change
experimental.

dump/restore has issues on win32

Folks,

I just had this exchange with Daniel Dulac on rrd-users. It seems
that either the way the binaries are compiled is giving problems or
there is some issue with the way scanf works on win. I can not
replroduce this on unix ...

any ideas

Current version does not work, but I want to add a feature

Hello,

I am trying to add a thumbnail feature to rrdtool, but have problems in 
getting the cvs version started.

I fetched the cvs sources configured; compiled and installed it on my RedHat 
7.2 machine, but there are no letters at all in my plot. The same command 
work with the current release perfectly. Do I have a problem with freetype?

My rpm is freetype-2.1.2.

You might have to specify the font explicitly, use --font for this. IIRC
you need a TTF for it to work...

Testset for all types of graphs?

Hello,

I'am experimenting around in the graph_size_location() function, to optimize 
for small images. But maybe my changes are usefull for normal graphs. 
To test this I'am asking, if there is a test set which generates many 
different graphs (e.g. a script for Linux with the corresponding *.rrd 
files), to check how the changes affect the graphs. Thank you for your help.

current CVS SEGV

I am seeing an occasional SEGV from the 1.1.0 current CVS.  It appears
here:
#0  0xfefc1be4 in _smalloc () from /usr/lib/libc.so.1
#1  0xfefc2114 in realloc () from /usr/lib/libc.so.1
#2  0xfe319b20 in data_calc (im=0xfe0f9210) at rrd_graph.c:871
#3  0xfe31d894 in graph_paint (im=0xfe0f9210, calcpr=0xfe386a40)
	at rrd_graph.c:2222
#4  0xfe31ec70 in rrd_graph (argc=27, argv=0xfe0fa418,
	prdata=0xfe386a40, 
		xsize=0xfe0f9a8c, ysize=0xfe0f9a88) at rrd_graph.c:2600

AFAIK SEGV in a realloc usually implies a previously freed or somesuch.  Has
anyone else experianced this?  This is a Solaris9 Sparc doing rrds for
ntop.

Chris,

compile rrdtool/ntop with -g and not -O then load the resulting
core with ddd, this should point out which line it fails in ...

another option is to compile with purify and then run, it will tell
you where the memory alocations or freeing is broken ...

CVS problem with Solaris9 and libtool

libtool has 3 lines of pic_flag= so configure.ac's:
CFLAGS="$CFLAGS "`grep pic_flag= libtool | sed -e 's/.*pic_flag=//' -e 's/"//g'`
Gets newlines in it.  I've patched it to:

Upside down vertical labels

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature but if you want your vertical
labels to read top to bottom as opposed to bottom to top you can do
this:
