psqlODBC 08.03.0200 Release

We are pleased to announce the release of psqlODBC 08.03.0200. For
details of the changes in this release, please see the notes at:
http://psqlodbc.projects.postgresql.org/release.html

With this release two versions of the driver are provided for Windows;
Then, libpq.dll and relation dll are included by official PostgreSQL 8.3.
'PostgreSQL ANSI' which supports single and multibyte applications
through the ANSI ODBC API, and 'PostgreSQL Unicode' which provides
Unicode support through the Unicode ODBC API. On Unix systems, the
driver type may be selected via a configure option. MSDTC is also
supported on Windows, and 64 bit support is now included in the source
code (binaries are not yet available).

psqlODBC may be downloaded from
http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/odbc/versions/ in source, Windows
Installer, merge module, and basic zip file formats.

Please post any bug reports to the pgsql-odbc <at> postgresql.org mailing list.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved with the
development, testing and bug fixing of the updated driver.

-
psqlODBC team.

Subject: Using Postgres to Host MS Project 2003

Hi,

I am trying to setup Postgres to host MS Project 2003,

I am using: postgresql 8.2
Pgodbc driver 8.03.02 -Ansi mode
MS Project 2003

I followed  http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-patches/2001-02/msg00006.php

And added the extra tables and columns to the db.

When I tried to add a project, It is giving an error An unexpected error occurred : verify all arguments names and values are correct . And may be out of memory.

Still the project is added in the database.

But, I am unable to open the project from DB, getting an error : Driver does not support this parameter.

I tried with both bytea and lo (given in the contrib directory of 8.2).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Madhusudhana Rao. K

Summary: GUID code missing in convert.c ("Unrecognized C_parameter ..") and fix

Initial Comment:
Hi,
Either I'm missing something, or there's the GUID (UUID) implementation missing in ResolveOneParam(..)
in convert.c [08.03.0100], since I'm getting "Unrecognized C_parameter type in
copy_statement_with_parameters" exceptions with param_ctype == -11 (=SQL_C_GUID).

I admit I dont really know what I'm doing, but adding the following lines seems to work well:

[convert.c, line 3745]
#if (ODBCVER >= 0x0350)
	    case SQL_C_GUID:
 		{
			SQLGUID *g = (SQLGUID *) buffer;
			sprintf (param_string,
				"%08lX-%04X-%04X-%02X%02X-%02X%02X%02X%02X%02X%02X",
				(unsigned long) g->Data1,
				g->Data2, g->Data3,
				g->Data4[0], g->Data4[1], g->Data4[2], g->Data4[3],
				g->Data4[4], g->Data4[5], g->Data4[6], g->Data4[7]);
		}
		break;
#endif

psqlODBC X CodeGear (Borland)

The version 08.03.0200 still not compatible with products from CodeGear like Delphi.

From version psqlodbc-08_02_0100 up to psqlodbc-08_03_0200, when we mark:

 * Unknown Sizes = Don't Know;
 * Data Type Option = Text as LongVarChar, Unknowns as LongVarChar;

all TEXT fields don't get recognized by the application as MEMO as they did
before.

We are still using the psqlodbc-08_01_0200 version with no problem.
