Position Summary:

As a DBA, you will oversee one or more system environments including development, QA, staging and production to assure server reliability and customer value.  In addition, you will proactively analyze, implement, interpret, and troubleshoot the design and architecture of OEConnection database structure.  This position could either be a project/contract based role or a career opportunity – depending on the candidates preferences and skills. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

        Must have 3+ years of PostgreSQL experience

        Must have 3+ years of Microsoft SQL Server experience as well

        Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field

        Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at once

Postgrespq DBA

Reply.com, the leading online auction marketplace for locally-targeted

marketing, is seeking a Postgresql DBA to work in a fast paced environment.

Ideal candidates must be enthused about database administration, quick

learning and self starting. This is a demanding role that will require

hands-on experience with database management, Linux, hardware, networking

and security. You will be responsible for the day to day operation of

Reply.com including maintain of databases for corporate and development

environments. We are seeking a candidate with good skills in database

tuning, maintenance, PSQL and Linux who is passionate about database

administration. This position is 24 x 7 and includes production support.

 

Skills: Ubuntu, Performance Tuning, Replication and NOSQL. Significant

opportunity to work with MySQL and SQL Server.

 

Responsibilities:

•Work with senior DBA on database design and implementation enhancements

•Primary on day to day schema changes and database maintenance

•Help developers to optimize queries, stored procedure and database design

•Assists in developing and implementing best practices for DR and Backups

•Assists in evaluating and selecting equipment, services and vendors

•Assist in Defining and implementing maintenance plan for the database

systems

 

Requirements:

 

•Solid understanding of database design principals

•Minimum 1 year experience with Postgresql 8.3, 8.4

•Solid understanding of query execution plans

•Good SQL scripts skill including SPs, PSQL scripting

•Good performance tuning skills

•Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database

systems issues.

•Knowledge of disaster recovery principles and practices, including

planning, testing, backup/restore

•Experience in replication, Slony is a plus

•Hands-on experience on database administration, backup recovery and

troubleshooting in co-location environments

•Problem-solving skills

•Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment

•Bachelor's degree

•Prior experience with Internet Companies is a plus

Postgres Developer Position in Boulder, CO

Hello all,

The GLOBE Program at the University Corporation for Atmospheric
Research (UCAR) has a full time Postgres Developer position open:

We are a small group of developers, using Ruby on Rails, Java, and
PostgreSQL DBMS for all new development.  We also maintain the
existing Data Information System and website interface for the
GLOBE.gov website.

GLOBE.gov is a website used around the world by students, teachers,
and scientists to collaborate on inquiry-based investigations of the
environment and the Earth system.  GLOBE works closely in partnership
with NASA, NOAA, and NSF.

Currently, our group is working to redesign a science database schema,
transfer 15+ years of earth science data from an Oracle database to a
PostgreSQL database, and integrate our Ruby on Rails website
application with a Liferay CMS.  Our next step will be to maintain and
extend the new database of global scientific data and develop
engaging, educational, data entry user interfaces.

Postgresql junior developer : Central London

We seek a budding postgresql developer to work with our software team
developing plpgsql stored procedures for our rota management
applications, used in over 50 UK hospitals.
