PostgreSQL Consultant (Sydney, Australia)

Position open for a PostgreSQL Software Engineer.

The main focus of the job will be as a Consultant & Support Specialist.

Fujitsu Australia Software Technology (FAST) is owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Japan and our forte is software development.

The position entails Consulting and Specialist Support services to customers based around PostgreSQL.

There will be ample opportunities to develop software and also to contribute software to the community.

The candidate must have a good command of English.

The selected person will join a small PostgreSQL skilled team that is extremely capable of providing

* excellent Support and Consultancy in PostgreSQL

* contributions to PostgreSQL core development

* development of applications using PostgreSQL

* proof of concepts for specialised customer requirements

* Database migration to PostgreSQL expertise

* Database design and performance consultancy

Candidate must have good knowledge of PostgreSQL from either DBA or Development experience in a Linux or Unix environment.

Knowledge of the following are helpful

* some System Administration skills of PostgreSQL

* some working knowledge of SQL and PL/PGSQL

* some experience with relational database design

* some experience with PostgreSQL Clustering and replication administration and design

* some Linux or Unix System Administration and scripting skills

* Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly

* Ability to work effectively in a team environment and able to

think strategically as well as execute effectively with a high

level of attention to detail.

* Good verbal and written communication skills

* Development experience in Open Source using databases with any of the following

C++, C, PHP, Java, Perl, Python or Ruby or others

Although preference is to fill a permanent position, candidates on a short or long contract basis will also be considered.

We presently run web-based rota management services for for over 35

We seek an energetic and able Postgresql Database Administrator with
strong skills in writing PL/pgSQL procedures to join our coding team.
Experience of deploying on Linux and working with Python and PHP would

Evaluate and redesign database architecture from BCP and Scalability perspective.

Requirements
    * At least 3-5 years of production, HA, scalable RDBMS Administration experience.

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    * The candidate should be accountable, self-starter, genuinely interested in all the aspects of production DBA work.

Preferred
