  • Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain database instances. 

  • Experience is replication, backup, partitioning, storage and access required.

  • Ensuring availability of database environment

  • Proactively monitoring database environment

  • Performance tuning (index, disk optimization, etc)

  • Provide trend analysis to management

  • Data modeling with Logical and Physical design

  • Architecting HA, DR and Failover database environment

  • Documenting DB architecture

  • Managing database security

  • Performing capacity planning

  • Implementation and release of DB changes

  • On call support

  • Query Optimization

  • Ability to drive database related projects

  • Must be a team player

  • Must be willing to work some late nights

  • Must be willing to learn new technology

The most competitive candidate for the position will have the following:

  • 6 years + experience required

  • Must have experience in Linux or UNIX

  • Must have experience in SQL Server and /or Oracle (Other RDBMS may be considered)

  • Knowledge of Postgres or MySQL is a plus

  • Experience with Nimbus is a plus

  • Experience managing multiple RDBMS

  • Practical experience in monitoring and performance tuning

  • Practical experience in replication

  • Experience in stored procedures

  • Experience in managing database security

  • Must have strong communication skills

  • Familiarity with leading edge technologies is a plus

  • Technical certifications a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Job Description:
This person is ultimately responsible for the integrity of high-volume
databases and improving the overall system to increase fault tolerance
system and high performance. The position involves administration activities
supporting mission-critical products. The position is highly technical but

Candidate must have proven skills operationally in managing multiple
production server environments, including system monitoring, security
management, schema deployment and lifecycle, system upgrades,
troubleshooting, disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, file system
maintenance, and replicating databases. 

Candidate must have 5+ years experience supporting large, replicated
databases in a 24x7 geographically distributed production environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

Administration
.Expert knowledge of RDBMS concepts including query and data model
optimization covering indexing, bitmaps, query plans, data file
organization, etc.
.Work with developers to understand applications and operational system
parameters and contribute to engineering designs
.Experienced working with large data warehouses

 Job Description: We are looking for highly motivated undergraduates or recent graduates with Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience to become involved with a start-up this summer.  We have many interesting technical challenges; from delivering mobile applications to tuning and managing back-end systems that will handle millions of messages.  Over a 10 week time period, we will be focused on refining Groupspeak's global platform for real-time message filtering and launching internationally.

 You will gain real-world software engineering experience, learning how to build highly scalable web services on a diverse open-source software stack.

 Requirements:

- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

- Solid fundamentals in algorithms

- Strong programming skills in Java, C, C++, and/or object-oriented PHP

 Preferences:

- Experience with a RDBMS (PostgreSQL preferred)

- Web development experience (JavaScript, (X)HTML and CSS)

- Strong Unix/Linux skills

- Experience with mobile development (Java ME, Android, Blackberry or iPhone)
