Signal 9 is usually not issued due to a program error but mainly by users or by system configured OOM-Killer.
What operating system are you using?

Re: Database Crash - please help

Potential remedies on Unixes:

 - increase the grace period between SIGTERM and SIGKILL in the OS
 - ensure the shutdown script is linked properly in /etc/init.d/rc...

AW: Subscriber id exists

Hello,

a SyncMan Client is a durable consumer in the MessageHub. If the MessageHub detects that a socket breaks
down, it should reset the state from the consumer to inactive.
If this fails you could restart the message server (and your clients) or you can call the admin client to
reset one special consumer.

e.g.:
java -classpath ".\msgserver.jar;" com.sap.sdb.msgServer.AdminClient -password SECRET123
-msgserver_host localhost -msgserver_admin_port 1234 "unregister consumer 1178116659124000008 durable"

The name of the consumer is an ID, which should stay constant as long as you don't delete the consumer on the
message server. You can select the consumer ID with
SELECT * FROM "MESSAGESERVICE"."MSGSERVER_CONSUMER"

MAXDB recovery error

Hi. We are trying to recover a database using a proven process. However,
though we are following our standard process, we are getting an error
during a "Restore Database Instance with Initilization" operation using
the database manager gui.

Here is the text of the error:

         -24988 sql error [db_activate RECOVER "CSP_Warm" DATA];
-3068,Mismatch of parameter configuration between backup and instance

I am looking for suggestions on how to fix this error. Any help will be
appreciated. Thanks.

- James

Hi James,

this error occurs, if either the cache size is too small to recover
the backup successfully or the parameter _UNICODE is different between
backup and database.
If neither of them is the case, please have a look into the file
knldiag. There should be a more detailed error message.

Upgrade Question

Hello,
i am trying to upgrade maxdb 7.6.00.36 to 7.6.02.10 with the
installation manager in windows, when i select the option "Install
software and upgrade existing database instance" it says me this "Update
not allowed: there is more than one database per software installation"
i have read about this problem in the maxdb manual with the
requirement "Each database instance must refer to a separate
software installation" but i cant understand really well the system
(sorry i am knowing it yet), i only have the databases maxdb1, demodb
(hotel schema), dbclient and dbmaster (to testing synchronization), i
have created the database instances like i have found in the manual with
dbmcli or the automated scripts, cant i update database software if i
have more than 1 instance? do i have to do 1 software installation with
different paths for every database i want to use? Would i do an
"Install/update software only" without upgrade database instance? Thanks
in advance.

Best Regards,
Miguel Angel.
