[Dbworld] CFP - Special Issue Co-creation enabled by social web

CFP Special Issue "Co-creation enabled by social web: Opinion mining
solutions to information overload"

Information Systems Management
(JCR, IMPACT FACTOR 2010: 1.029)

Internet is now a vehicle to express opinions and share information to
a global community. The Web 2.0 phenomenon made the Web social,
initiating an explosion in the number of users of the Web and in the
information available. In this new scenario, collaboration and
co-creation with customers has emerged through habitual use of Web
2.0, by both companies and clients alike (Vargo & Lusch, 2004). As a
consequence of the endless opportunities of social web, customers
today have powerful tools to express their opinions and influence in
business systems. Armed with new tools and dissatisfied with available
choices, consumers want to interact with firms and thereby ?co-create?
value (Prahalad & Ramaswamy, 2004)

Co-creation concept was introduced by Prahalad and Ramaswamy in their
2000 Harvard Business Review article, ?Co-Opting Customer Competence?.
These authors later pointed out that co-creation is an extension of
the idea developed by researchers interested in user-driven product
innovation. Co-creation is about joint creation of value by the
company and the customer. Corporation must create an experience
environment in which consumers can have active dialogue and
co-construct personalized experiences. Social web appears to adopt a
key role in such environment.

But in spite of the importance of the concept and its endless
applications in business, co-creation enabled by social web faces a

Management Systems, Web and Information Retrieval, and Data Mining.

In light of the recent major power outages in India, the research paper
submission deadline has been extended by a week.

To encourage participation from junior research colleagues, COMAD 2012 will have
a special "Work in Progress" track designed as a forum to present ongoing work
and receive feedback. Only the abstracts of submissions in this track will be
included in the proceedings of the conference. This will not preclude the
authors from submitting the full version of their paper to another conference.

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

Data Management Systems:
* Benchmarking and performance evaluation
* Data exchange and integration
* Database monitoring and tuning
* Data privacy and security

[Dbworld] IAS - Special Session on Undesirable Data Detection (UDD 2012)

//** Please circulate this CfP among your colleagues and students **//
//** We apologize for multiple copies **//

Call for Papers of the Special Session on Undesirable Data Detection --- UDD 2012

Under the framework of the 8th International Conference on Information Assurance and Security (IAS
2012), 21-23 November 2012 in Sao Carlos, Brazil

Objectives
In recent years, research in the area of ICT security grows rapidly, mainly thanks to growing number of
security threats arising internally or externally. Undesirable behavior comprising any
intentionally or unintentionally misuse of resources in information systems produces growing
quantity of new undesirable data every day. Undesirable Data Detection
(http://www.mirlabs.net/ias12/ss1.html) Special Session aims at presenting novel approaches for
evaluating or detecting potentially malicious activity threatening the security of ICT.
The special session seeks contributions about foundations of undesirable data detection as well as case
studies, empirical, and other methodological works. It will provide an opportunity to disseminate
latest results in this important field. This section is focused on mining or detection of the undesirable
data (such as spam emails and other unsolicited message in any communication system) and on its
optimization for all possible aspects of security. Moreover, the session focuses on engines for
Intrusion Detection Systems detection based on rules and on data elaboration, with special care of
solution able to support data parallelization and GPU computing. Last but not least the special session
aims at collecting case studies and real application of Undesirable data detection.

Specific topics of interest
The preferred topics for this special session are (but not limited to):
•	Detection techniques and Methodologies
o	Spam detection
o	Intrusion detection
o	Similarity detection

[Dbworld] Terra Cognita Workshop 2012 in conjunction with ISWC - paper submission deadline extended to Aug. 7

Due to requests from interested authors, we have extended the deadline for paper submission to August 7.

The call for papers follows below. Apologies for multiple postings.

==============================================================================================================

5th International Terra Cognita Workshop
Foundations, Technologies and Applications of the Geospatial Web
http://www.strabon.di.uoa.gr/terracognita/

In conjunction with the 11th International Semantic Web Conference
November 11-15, 2012
Boston, USA
http://iswc2012.semanticweb.org/

Objectives
The wide availability of technologies such as GPS, map services and social networks, has resulted in the
proliferation of geospatial data on the Web.
In addition to material produced by professionals (e.g., maps), the public has also been encouraged to
make geospatial content, including their geographical
location and a record of their outdoor activities, available online. The volume of such user-generated
geospatial content is constantly growing.
Similarly, the amount of data extracted from the Web and published as Linked Open Data is increasing.
Linked Open Data include many data sets with
geospatial properties such as coordinates, feature classes or topological relations. Examples of such
data sets are GeoNames.org, LinkedGeoData.org and DBpedia.org.

The geo-referencing of Web resources and users has given rise to various services and applications that
exploit it. With the location of users being made available
widely, new issues such as those pertaining to security and privacy arise. Likewise, emergency response,
