=================================================================
BPM 2011
9th International Conference on Business Process Management 2011
August 29-September 2, Clermont-Ferrand, France
http://bpm2011.isima.fr
=================================================================

========================
Call for Research Papers
========================

BPM 2011 is the ninth conference in a series that provides the most distinguished research forum for
researchers and practitioners in all aspects of BPM including theory, frameworks, methods,
techniques, architectures, systems, and empirical findings. With an acceptance rate in previous
editions at around 13% the conference has a record of attracting innovative research of highest quality,
from a mix of disciplines including Computer Science, Management Information Science, Services
Computing, Services Science, and Technology Management.

This year’s conference will continue with the broad-based themes of previous editions, and strives to
strengthen and expand in several key directions . The conference encourages emerging research on new
conceptual models for BPM that attempt to unify core aspects of BPM, including process management, data
management, business rules and requirements, and analytics. The conference also encourages the
increasing interest in applying established and new techniques, such as model-driven architectures,
Web services and Web architectures, SOA, and Cloud Computing, to the specific challenges of BPM. In this
context, the conference is also looking for contributions on implementation techniques and details for
process or Web service execution engines with focus on new application areas. Finally, the conference
seeks to attract papers that highlight the pervasive need for BPM capabilities across application areas
outside of business management, including healthcare delivery, digital g!
overnment, disaster management, and management of scientific and other academic endeavors, and that

for the research, design, and prototype development concerning the
following topics:

  (1) Atomization of Spatio-Temporal Data, including (a) the
identification of the "right" representation of spatio-temporal
data in RDF (balancing efficiency against expressiveness); and
      (b) investigation of techniques to that allow semi-automatical
inference, based on the data, when data is spatial and/or

(All published papers will be published by LNCS and are expected to be indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP)

April 22, 2011 Hong Kong, China

Jan. 22, 2011 On site paper deadline
May 01, 2011 Final camera ready copy
Apr. 22, 2011 Workshop

---Themes---
The integration systems have been a subject of intense research and development for over three decades.
Basically the goal of integration systems is to provide a uniform interface to a multitude of data
sources. Difficulties in overcoming the schematic, syntactic and semantic differences of data from
multiple autonomous and heterogeneous sources are well recognized, and have resulted in a data
integration market valued at US$1.34 billion and growing. With the phenomenal increase in the scale and
disparity of data, the problems associated with data integration have increased dramatically.

A fundamental aspect of user satisfaction from integration systems is the data quality. Industry reports
indicate that expensive data integration initiatives stemming from migrations, mergers, legacy
upgrades etc, succeed in achieving a common technology platform, but are rejected by the user
communities due to the presence (or exposure) of poor data quality. Poor data quality is known to
compromise the credibility and efficiency of commercial as well as public endeavours. Several
developments from industry as well as academia have contributed significantly towards addressing the problem.

These typically include analysts and practitioners who have contributed to the design of strategies and

CALL FOR PAPERS
Fourth International Conference on Geospatial Semantics (GeoS 2011)
12-13 May 2011, Brest, France
http://geosco.org/geos2011/

Purpose and Scope
GEOspatial Semantics (GEOS) is an emerging research area in the domain of geographic information systems
and spatial databases. The fourth edition of GeoS aims at providing a forum for the exchange of
state?of?the?art research results in the areas of modelling and processing of geospatial semantics. It
has been largely recognized that geospatial semantics play an important role for the development of
next?generation spatial databases and geographic information systems, as well as specialized
geospatial web services.

The previous editions of the conference ? GeoS 2005, GeoS 2007, and GeoS 2009 in Mexico City, Mexico
www.geosco.org have attracted all together about 120 submissions, from which 40 regular and 8 short
articles have been published in Volumes 3799, 4853, and 5892 of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science
respectively. People from 35 countries and 5 continents have attended previous GeoS conferences. The
fourth edition GeoS 2011 is moving to Europe! It will be held 12?13 May 2011 in Brest, France the day after
IF&GIS 2011 conference and under the umbrella of the Safer Seas 2011 conference. GeoS traditionally
brings together researchers whose expertise will address issues such as, but not limited to as far as they
address geospatial semantics issues:

- Cognitive aspects of geospatial semantics
- Multicultural aspects of geospatial knowledge
- Geospatial ontologies
- Ontology?driven GIS
- Geospatial semantic models
- Models and languages for geo?ontologies
- Alignment and integration of geo?ontologies
- Formal representations of geospatial data

[Dbworld] Fully funded Ph.D. positions at Aarhus University, DK

The Data-Intensive Systems Group at Aarhus University
(http://cs.au.dk/research/areas/data-intensive-systems/) anticipates the availability of a
number of fully funded 3-year Ph.D. positions on the following five topics: outlier detection, indoor
positioning, spatial web objects, mobile objects, and just-in-time query processing.

- Outlier detection: The objective is to develop novel data mining methods and tools that allow
interactive analysis of data. Emphasis is on anomaly detection in science, in close cooperation with
project partners from different sciences. Key challenges arise from the need for interactive,
traceable, and robust detection methods.

- Indoor positioning: This research aims to invent, prototype, and study (i) data management techniques
that enable users to generate indoor positioning in their own indoor spaces without the need for
programming and (ii) the infrastructure for services that make use of such positioning.

- Spatial web objects: A spatial web is emerging where points of interest with known positions have textual
descriptions on the web. With the ubiquity of positioning users may issue text queries for nearby points
of interest. This research concerns techniques for the ranking of points of interest as a means of
enabling novel spatial web querying.

- Mobile objects: This research concerns indexing and query processing in relation to mobile objects.
Example challenges include trajectory-based query processing and techniques for enforcing
location-related privacy. This research may consider indoor as well as outdoor spaces.

- Just-in-time queries: This research is within query processing and will explore progressive and
just-in-time computation suitable for visualization and collaborative decision making methods
developed by our project partners in human-centered computing. Focus is on efficient and scalable algorithms.

The Data-Intensive Systems Group is a new and expanding research group in the Department of Computer
Science, which employs some 180 staff (125 scientific staff and 55 administrative staff). The
department is strong in both theoretical and experimental computer science. Aarhus University is the

2011 in Barcelona, Spain. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet and discuss issues
with a selected focus - providing an informal setting for active exchange among researchers, developers
and users on topics of current interest. ICWSM-11 is being co-located with IJCAI-11, and we plan to have a
special conference rate for IJCAI registrants.

Members of all segments of the social media research community are encouraged to submit proposals. To
foster interaction and exchange of ideas, the workshops will be kept small, with 25-50 participants.
Attendance is limited to active participants only. The format of workshops will be determined by their
organizers, who are encouraged to avoid a mini-conference format that is dominated by long talks and
short discussions.
