Call for Papers

The enduring digital insurrection has brought on the appearance of new network applications intended to
speed up worldwide sharing of information. The applications have embraced the well-known peer-to-peer
(P2P) technology in innovative ways, eternally altering the world of personal computing. P2P
systems—an alternative to conventional client–server systems— mostly support applications that
offer file sharing and content exchange like music, movies, etc. The concept has also been effectively
employed for high performance computing, Internet-based telephony etc. The unanticipated growth in
popularity of P2P systems has raised a number of significant problems. This situation has led
academicians and industry people towards stupendous research in the field.

The objective of International Workshop on Advances in Peer-to-Peer Technology - IWAP2PT’09 is to bring
together researchers and practitioners in the areas of P2P computing, and to provide an opportunity to

[Dbworld] CfP: Workshop on Monitoring, Adaptation and Beyond (MONA+09) at ICSoC&ServiceWave 2009

            CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

****************************************************************
Workshop on Monitoring, Adaptation and Beyond (MONA+09)

A Workshop held at the Joint ICSOC&ServiceWave 2009 Conference
                 23 or 24/11/2009
                 Stockholm, Sweden

Objectives

The advances in modern technology and the constantly evolving requirements implied by dynamic business
and operational environments impose new challenges for engineering and provisioning Service Based
Applications (SBAs). SBAs have to become drastically more flexible; they should be able to operate and
evolve in highly dynamic environments and to adequately identify and react to various changes in these
environments. In such a setting, adaptation becomes a key capability of SBAs as it enables these
applications to continuously change themselves in order to satisfy new requirements and demands
dictated by the environment. The ability of the application to adapt relies on the presence of monitoring
mechanisms and facilities to identify, detect, and even predict critical events and situations that
occur in the SBA environment.

A variety of approaches and techniques addressing different forms of monitoring and adaptation have been
proposed to date. Still, for delivering robust, dependable, and highly adaptable SBAs the definition of
holistic approaches is crucial. This requires the integration of the efforts of researchers from
various disciplines and research areas. More specifically, this requires the integration across the
different layers of an SBA, including the business layer, the service layer, the infrastructure layer,

Over the last two decades, many organizations and individuals have
relied on electronic collaboration between distributed teams of
humans, computer applications, and/or autonomous robots to achieve
higher productivity and produce joint products that would have been
impossible to develop without the contributions of multiple
collaborators. Technology has evolved from standalone tools, to open
systems supporting collaboration in multi-organizational settings, and
from general purpose tools to specialized collaboration grids. Future
collaboration solutions that fully realize the promises of electronic
collaboration require advancements in networking, technology and
systems, user interfaces and interaction paradigms, and interoperation
with application-specific components and tools.
