----------------------------

The 2008 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM'08)

December 15 - 19, 2009. Pisa, Italy.
http://icdm08.isti.cnr.it/

The International Conference on Data Mining series (ICDM) is well established as a top ranked research
conference in data mining, providing a premier forum for presentation of original research results, as
well as exchange and dissemination of innovative, practical development experiences.

The conference covers all aspects of data mining, including algorithms, software and systems, and
applications. In addition, ICDM draws researchers and application developers from a wide range of data
mining related areas such as statistics, machine learning, pattern recognition, databases and data
warehousing, data visualization, knowledge-based systems, and high performance computing. ICDM'08
will be the eighth edition of the series. Please visit http://icdm08.isti.cnr.it/ for more information
about the conference.

ICDM'08 will host tutorials covering topics in data mining of interest to the research community as well as
application developers. The tutorials will be part of the main conference technical program, and are
free of charge to the attendees of the conference.

We invite proposals for tutorials from active researchers and experienced tutors. Ideally, a tutorial
will cover the state-of-the-art research, development and applications in a specific data mining
direction, and stimulate and facilitate future work. A tutorial should not mainly focus on only the
presenters' previous work. Tutorials on interdisciplinary directions, novel and fast growing
directions, and significant applications are highly encouraged.

Appel à Participation MoDISE-EUS - CAISE'08

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

=============================================

MoDISE-EUS’2008

Model Driven Information Systems Engineering :

Enterprise, User and System Models

http://www.irit.fr/MDISE2008/MDISE08Program.html

=============================================

http://www.irit.fr/MDISE2008/

16-17 June 2008 - Montpellier - France

Workshop held in conjunction with CAISE 2008

http://www.lirmm.fr/caise08

PURPOSE

=======

This workshop results from the integration and synergy of four workshops organised in conjunction with the 26th edition of the major annual French Conference on Information Systems: INFORSID (http://lacl.univ-paris12.fr/INFORSID08/). The four workshops are listed underneath:

· Ingénierie d’Entreprise et des Systèmes d’Information (IESI)

· Prise en Compte de l’Utilisateur dans les Systèmes d’Information (PeCUSI)

· Méthodes Avancées de Développement des Systèmes d’Information (MADSI)

· Evolution, Réutilisation et Traçabilité des Systèmes d’Information (ERTSI)

These workshops were selected among the twelve workshops associated to INFORSID’2008 because of the relevance of their major topics with respect to the topics and to the theme (Sustainable Information Systems) of the International 20th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAISE'08). More particularly, MoDIS-EUS'2008 workshop addresses Information Systems Engineering through Enterprise, User and System Modelling perspectives. The most relevant papers of each workshop will be pre-selected with regard to their potential for raising useful and fruitful discussions during the MoDIS-EUS’08 workshop, from multi-domain research considerations on the still on-going challenges of the Information Systems Engineering. The pre-selection will concern papers which have been submitted in English to one of the workshops of INFORSID listed above- meaning thus that the authors also wish to submit their work to the MoDIS-EUS’08 workshop-. The pre-selected papers will then go into the selection process under the responsibility of the specific Program Committee of MoDIS-EUS’08.

TOPICS

======

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

. Enterprise modelling and service oriented enterprise (SOE)

. Enterprise process models: languages, variability and interoperability

in Geographic Information Systems 2008 (ACM GIS 2008) is the
sixteenth event of a series of symposia and workshops that began
in 1993 with the aim of bringing together researchers, developers,
users, and practitioners carrying out research and development in
novel systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge, and fostering
interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of geographic
information systems. The conference provides a forum for original
research contributions covering all conceptual, design, and
implementation aspects of GIS ranging from applications, user
interface considerations, and visualization down to storage
management and indexing issues. This year's conference builds
on last year's conference great success and on being the premier
annual conference of the newly formed ACM Special Interest
Group on Spatial Information (ACM SIGSPATIAL). Researchers,
students, and practitioners are invited to submit their contributions
to this year's ACM GIS.

[Dbworld] Postdoctoral position in distributed text mining

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION WITHIN THE AREA OF DISTRIBUTED TEXT MINING AT
THE NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

A post-doctoral position in the area of distributed text mining within the COMIDOR project is available at
the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDI) in the Faculty of Information Technology,
Mathematics and Electrical Engineering (IME), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology
(NTNU).

COMIDOR (Cooperative Mining of Independent Document Repositories) is a research project at NTNU that
will focus on the mechanisms and algorithms necessary to perform mining of independent document
repositories. COMIDOR is funded by the Norwegian Research Council.

Traditionally, text mining has been performed on a single text
collection, and in the case of collections from several repositories
these collections have first been merged before performing the mining
process. In some application areas, merging of collections is not
acceptable. For example, some repositories can not be merged for legal
reasons, while some can not be merged because of risk of revealing
classified information. In the COMIDOR project the aim is to develop
new solutions to mining of independent document repositories without
communication of base repositories. A more detailed description of the
project can be found at http://research.idi.ntnu.no/comidor/. The
candidate is expected to contribute to the start-up phase of the
project, working in close cooperation with the actors involved in the
project.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science with solid knowledge of text mining or distributed
data management, and familiarity with program development. The postdoc position is for two years.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. If you
are interested, please contact Prof. Kjetil Norvag (project leader),
noervaag at idi.ntnu.no for more detailed information about the
application procedure.

Specific Conditions: The postdoc position is placed in Norwegian
salary code 1352, gross NOK 401.900 per year (equivalent to
approx. EUR 51.000 and USD 80.000). Living Costs in Norway: A rule of thumb is that one pays appr. 35% tax on
net income. Public health care system is free for all (due to the tax level). Generally there is no need for
private health care insurances. Education on all levels is free for all. Housing normally cost between
NOK 4000 (for a simple one bed studio with kitchenette, possibly shared bathroom) and 8000 (for a 3-4 piece
apartment suitable for a small family) per month.
