         26-30 October 2008, Karlsruhe, Germany
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Semantic Web has emerged from the laboratory into the business
environment. A number of companies already market products that are
based on semantic web technology; others are developing new solutions
based on semantic technologies. These solutions, ranging from search
to data integration to Web service communication enabled by the
application of semantic technologies, are expected to lead to improved
business processes, savings in cost and time and heightened efficiency
and competitiveness.

General Information
--------------------------
The Semantic Web In-Use Track is a forum dedicated to these
experiences, where the participants discuss the benefits of applying
semantic technology in industry as well as the problems that are
encountered, with the objective of reaching an interested industrial
audience. For this purpose, the Semantic Web In-Use Track solicits
the submission of original, principled papers on the following topics:

* Applications of semantic technology to solve business problems and

[Dbworld] Final CFP: 2nd International Workshop on Web Service Composition and Adaptation (WSCA-2008)

2nd International Workshop on Web Service Composition and Adaptation (WSCA-2008)
Special Theme: Dynamic Services Composition and User Steering

Website: http://www.cs.uga.edu/~jfh/WSCA2008

July 8, 2008, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
Affiliated with IEEE International Services Computing Conference 2008

Recent advances in networks, information and computation grids, and WWW have
resulted in the proliferation of a multitude of physically distributed and
autonomously developed Web services. Correspondingly, the construction and
deployment of composite services by combining and reusing independently
developed component services is an important capability in the emerging Web
- based computing infrastructure. In particular, ongoing research in automatic
and semi-automatic techniques of creating and managing service compositions is
paving the way for business processes to continually evolve and be flexible--an
important requirement in managing Information Technology (IT) complexity for big
and small businesses. Typically, issues related to dynamic service compositions
include developing approaches to handling service failures, changes in service
functionalities, and changes to quality of service parameters. Other related
topics include understanding external events, which are the sources of
volatility in service compositions. In people-oriented service compositions, the
element of human intervention further complicates the compositions and the
manner in which compositions may be adapted. One example of this is user
steering, which includes human involvement in interpreting dynamic compositions
and making decisions on how the process will adapt to change. Exploring novel
techniques such as mash-ups that support incremental and dynamic process
evolution due to user steering is also an important topic of interest.

The workshop will be held in conjunction with the IEEE Services Computing

[Dbworld] MobiQuitous 2008 - One week to paper registration, two weeks to submission

				CALL FOR PAPERS
The Fifth Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems:
Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous 2008)

		    July 21-25, 2008, Dublin, Ireland
			http://www.mobiquitous.org

Sponsored by ICST
Technically-sponsored by Create-Net and ACM-SIGMOBILE

IMPORTANT DATES
Workshop proposals: March 1, 2008
Paper registration: March 8, 2008
Paper submission: March 15, 2008
Notification of acceptance: May 4, 2008
Camera-ready version: May 18, 2008

THEME
Combinations of mobile and ubiquitous computing are becoming increasingly
present in our daily life. Through the use of mobile devices embedded in the
surrounding physical environment, users can be provided with transparent
computing and communication services at all times and in all places. The
complexity of providing such services stems from the fact that the
communication devices and the objects with which they interact may both be
mobile. Their implementation requires advances in wireless network technologies
and devices, development of infrastructures supporting cognitive environments,
discovery and identification of ubiquitous computing applications and services,
and an understanding of the cross-layer interactions between all of these
components. The Fifth Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous

[Dbworld] CFP: Special Issue on Knowledge Discovery for Web Intelligence

Special Issue on Knowledge Discovery for Web Intelligence

Guest Editors:
Ning Zhong, Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro, Yiyu Yao, and Philip Yu

http://wi-consortium.org/cyberchair/SI-KDWI

Web Intelligence (WI) is a new direction of scientific research and development that explores the
fundamental roles, practical impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced Information
Technology (IT) on the next generation of Web-empowered products, systems, services, and activities.
The fast growing interest and extensive research results have convinced many researchers that Web
Intelligence is one of the most promising IT research fields in the era of Web and agent intelligence.

Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining provide a key technology for Web Intelligence and have been applied in
many newly developed intelligent Web information systems. New requirements arise from an increasing
number of Web based real-world applications (e-applications for short), such as e-business (including
e-commerce and e-finance), e-service, e-science, e-learning, e-government, and e-community and
social networks. The main objective of this special issue is to present a showcase of the theory and
applications of knowledge discovery and data mining for Web Intelligence.

Topics of Interest
The topics and areas include, but not limited to:

    * Knowledge Discovery for e-Business Intelligence
    * Knowledge Discovery for One-stop Service
    * Knowledge Discovery for Personalization

[Dbworld] CFP: Personalization Enhanced Access to Cultural Heritage Workshop @ AH 2008

--------------------------------------------------
CFP for the 2nd International Workshop on
Personalization Enhanced Access to Cultural Heritage

       http://www.cs.vu.nl/~laroyo/PATCH.html
     http://www.ah2008.org/index.php?section=41
--------------------------------------------------
           in conjunction with AH'2008
             http://www.ah2008.org/
--------------------------------------------------
Technologies for Cultural Heritage appreciation gains a lot of
attention lately. On the one hand, the scientific field explores the
possibilities to provide appropriate technologies for digital and
integrated access to cultural heritage collections. On the other hand,
the cultural heritage institutions are more and more eager to
collaborate among each other and to provide personalized views,
navigation and access to their virtual and physical collections.

Personalization capitalizes on a user-centered interactive information
exchange between museum websites or museum guide systems and the
visitors. The museum monologue turns into a dialogue and
personalization is a new communication strategy based on a continuous
process of collaboration, learning and adaptation between the museum
and its visitors. Currently, there are already various initiatives by
museums attempting to meet the needs of the individual user.

The workshop will focus on the specific challenges of personalization
in cultural setting and exploring novel ideas for coping with these
challenges. The workshop is multi-disciplinary: it is intended for
researchers, practitioners, and students of information and
