[Dbworld] Call for Participation: 11th IEEE International EDOC Conference (EDOC 2007)

Call for Participation
11th IEEE International EDOC Conference (EDOC 2007) "The Enterprise Computing Conference"

Hosted by: The MITRE Corporation
Sponsored By: IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Communications Society

15-19 October 2007, Annapolis, MD USA
http://www.edocconference.org

About the conference
The EDOC Conference is the key annual event in enterprise computing. EDOC conferences address the full
range of engineering technologies and methods contributing to enterprise distributed application
systems. EDOC 2007 will be the eleventh event in the series of conferences, which since 1997 has brought
together leading computer science researchers, IT decision makers, IT architects, solution designers
and practitioners from academia, industry and government to discuss enterprise computing challenges,
models and solutions. Today the creation, operation and evolution of enterprise computing systems
comprises challenges that range from high-level requirements and policy modeling to the deployment and
maintenance of solutions in and across customer businesses. Enterprise computing is based on
a wide (and ever growing) range of methods, models, tools and technologies. The resulting applications
also cover a broad spectrum of vertical domains and industry segments, from electroni!
c and mobile commerce to real-time business applications for collaborating enterprises. In recent
years, technologies related to business processes integration, management, execution and monitoring
have become one of the top areas of interest in enterprise computing. The EDOC Conference emphasizes the
integration and management of enterprise computing research and development results, fostering an
enterprise and social organizational engineering approach that can address and relate business,
application, middleware and technical levels. The themes of openness and distributed computing, based
on services, components and objects, provide a useful and unifying conceptual thread for this purpose.

communication environment that provides services anytime and
anywhere for everyone. Such an environment enables users to
access a wide range of services and applications using a large
variety of mobile and ubiquitous devices (e.g., cell phones,
handheld computers, and so on). In order to accelerate this
trend in the future, further progresses of the researches on
wireless and pervasive computing, especially on data management,
are necessary.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and
researchers from both academia and industry in order to have a
forum for discussion and technical presentations on the current
researches and future research directions related to this hot

[Dbworld] CFP: Springer SOCA special issue on Service Intelligence and Service Science

Service Oriented Computing and Applications
CFP - Special Issue on: Service Intelligence and Service Science
Editors-in-Chief: K.-J. Lin; J.-Y. Chung Managing Editor: K.-M. Chao
Website: http://www.springer.com/journal/11761
Springer, London.
ISSN: 1863-2386 (print version) ISSN: 1863-2394 (electronic version)

Special issue webpage: http://www.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/~kwchiu/soca2007.htm

The global economy and organizations are evolving to become service-oriented.
There are recently more and more research works on services provision, particularly
with a cross-disciplinary approach. Beyond the Service Oriented Architecture,
IBM proposed an emerging research and curriculum area called Service Science
to the industry and academia, which is a combined discipline of technologies
including computer science, industrial and systems engineering, management
science, operations research, marketing, contracts and negotiations;
as well as culture transformation and integration methods based on beliefs,
assumptions, principles, and values among organizations and humans.

The creation, operation, and evolution of such research and practice raise
concerns that range from high-level requirements and policy modeling through
to the deployment of specific implementation technologies and paradigms,
and involve a wide (and ever growing) range of methods, tools, and technologies.
They also cover a broad spectrum of vertical domains, industry segments,
and even governments.

This special issue intentionally seeks scientists, engineers, educators,
industry people, policy makers, decision makers, and others who have
insight, vision, and understanding of the big challenges in
Service Intelligence and Service Science. Topics of interest include but are

COMPSAC is a major international forum for researchers, practitioners, managers, and policy makers interested
in computer software and applications. Beginning 2006, COMPSAC is designated as the IEEE Computer Society
Signature Conference on Software Technology and Applications. It was first held in Chicago in 1977, and since
then it has been one of the major forums for academia, industry, and government to discuss the state of the art,
new advances, and future trends in software technologies and practices. The technical program includes keynote
addresses, research papers, industrial case studies, panel discussions and fast abstracts. It also
includes a
number of workshops on emerging important topics.

The creation of trustworthy and dependable software spans all aspects of software engineering. COMPSAC
is a
unique forum to bring together these facets and their major stakeholders. Building on the trustworthy, secure,
and dependable software themes of highly successful recent COMPSAC conferences, the technical theme for the
32nd conference is

                            INTEGRATING THE DISTRIBUTED WORLDS.
