Kubiak number one!

Hello,

I just saw yesterday's final match between Kubiak and FreeTime. Very 
interesting indeed. These two robots are very agressive and very 
efficient to recover from falling down. The match was pretty tight and 
the winner was the one who didn't fell off the tatami (or who fell just 
after the other). It seems that the new efficient strategy at the very 
top is to push the opponent out of the tatami... Kind of Sumotori... And 
Kubiak was better at this game (maybe by chance ?)... But I just saw 
that FreeTime already reacted by uploading a new version of his 
controller... However Kubiak also uploaded a new version yesterday 
night... I am anxious to watch today's round...

Good luck to all others who uploaded new versions. There are many and I 
hope to see some good surprise today...

Kubiak still number one!

The matches between Kubiak and FreeTime are more and more entertaining. 
It's impressive to see the level of efficiency reached since the contest 
started. Kubiak is amazingly fast and efficient to locate and attack his 
opponent... The next stage is maybe having a robot able to recover from 
falling off the stage...

By the way, the Scotish robots are progressing significantly. Nice 
performances for Max (+11, reaching #12) and MacPhee (+7, reaching rank 
#24). I hope to see them close to Kubiak and FreeTime soon...

I will make an MPEG movie of an off-contest match between Kubiak and 
FreeTime and set it on the web site.

Round results

Hi,

It seems that the new version of Astalavista outperformed FreeTime while 
it was defeated by Kubiak which introduced a new rotating arms strategy 
(he almost could lift up Astalavista!)... We have now two french flags 
at the very top... Also, it's nice to see the nice performance of Orione 
who brough the italian flag at rank 6 after a +3 increase. The scotish 
robots are still progressing. Max entered the top 10 followed by Jimothy 
(+8), yarivus (-1) and others. Finally let me welcome RbMrc from Hungary 
who entered at rank 39 and still need some improvements to progress.

We are now 48 teams engaged in this contest! Will you let the french 
flags settle quietly at the very top of the hall of fame ? It would be 
nice to see different colors ;)

Is Astalavista so intelligent ?

Hi,

No big changes today in the hall of fame. Astalavista took the 
leadership after a very nice match against Kubiak. At the end of the 
last set, Astalavista knocked Kubiak out of the ring, turned back and 
made a move of the head, like if he was meaning "I got it!". It is so 
impressive... Does Astalavista really detect the the opponent was kicked 
off the tatami ?

By the way, let me welcome a new Scotish robot, Vertigo, who entered at 
rank #40. Good luck Vertigo!

The Scotish robots are still progressing slowly. Max entered the top 10 
and Jimothy is now #11... Where will they stop ?...

Is there any way to find out the inclination of a
robot?

There is a routine on the Webots Wiki which will calculate the X and Z
inclination angles from the GPS matirx.

Webots 4.0.20 available for download

Hi,

A new release of Webots tagged 4.0.20 is available for download. It 
includes many improvements and bug fixes. I would recommand every Webots 
4 user to upgrade to this new release:

round troubles

Hi,

The round server experienced some troubles today (after upgrading 
XFree86). This is now fixed and the round has just restarted hopefully 
in normal conditions.
