Re: [Fedora-users] Problem starting Fedora repository with Win2K server

Hello all,

just for the record, the problem is solved. The cause of the problem was
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i, which was installed on the server: it
was not sufficient to disable the "System scan" option - we had to
completely uninstall it. A wise sys admin informed me that VirusScan
installs a network driver that, no matter the user preferences and
enabled/disabled status, blocks network traffic and file access it
considers suspicious.

Cheers!
Vassilis

[Fedora-users] Accessing Fedora Objects

Hi All !!

Thanks  for the support given  to me .Previous problem was solved . Now it's working fine.

Now there is yet another problem .  Our's is  a University with geographically distant  campuses.  We would like to access this Fedora Sever from different campuses through satellite link. In our headquarters , it's working  fine , we had  replaced "localhost " with the IP address  of  Fedora Server.  Now  when other campuses access it , through the satellite link  , the IP address  is mapped on to some other dynamic  address. So what can we do? Is there any option to dynamically assign  the address of Fedora Server , so as to access the objects in the repository?  Please help.

Regards
Ayana.

RE: [Fedora-users] Accessing Fedora Objects

Hi Ayana,

It's best to use a public hostname for your Fedora server, rather than an IP address.  If the IP address changes often, you might consider using a service like dynip.com so that DNS lookups can quickly resolve to the latest IP address of your server.

[Fedora-users] Progress on phase 2 planning?

Hi all,

Back in July I asked about the likely content and timetable for Phase 2,
and the response at the time was that detailed planning would occur in
mid-late October. I also half-remember seeing something about a new
release (1.3?) sometime about now. Any news yet on either of these?

Re: [Fedora-users] Progress on phase 2 planning?

Hi Nigel,

Our Fedora development meeting was last week. We finalized plans for the
2.0 release, which has superceded the proposed 1.3 release of Fedora, and
mapped out a rough take on the priorities for the second grant funded
development phase.

Release 2.0 is currently planned for December 15, 2004.

Best regards,
Ronda

[Fedora-users] Fedora Users Conference

To All:
Rutgers University Libraries will be hosting a Fedora Users Conference
in May, 2005 (proposed dates are May 13 and 14). The conference is
being planned in collaboration with the Fedora Project Development
Team. The intent of this early posting is to alert you to this
conference so that you can mark your calendars. Also, we would
appreciate hearing from those who would be interested in presenting
their work with Fedora at this conference.

The conference will focus on presentations, demonstrations, and poster
sessions with ample time set aside for informal discussions. Topics can
be in any area: subject content, architecture, workflow, management of
content, systems, etc. Please forward your suggestions (either to me
or to the listserv) and let us know specifically if you are interested
in presenting at this conference. A website will be provided later for
registration.

[Fedora-users] fedora.info temporary downtime

Hi all,

Just an fyi to anyone wondering where this site has
gone: It has moved to a different machine (128.143.22.236)
and the update should propogate through DNS within the next
couple days.

Sorry, but this move was not anticipated *cough*[1].

By the way, does anyone have recommendations on a good wiki
software replacement? ;)

Thanks,
Chris

[Fedora-users] Axix error starting fedora server

The problem is a mismatch of IPv4 and IPv6 address representation in
-Suse linux 9.1 and
-Apache Axis

If you don't need IPv6 try to disable it in Suse linux 9.1 or use
another distribution or
patch the Java class org.apache.axis.utils.Admin .

With kind regards,
Jochen Schirrwagen
