upgrading a remote server from RH9 to FC4 using yum

Hi all,

I don't know if you're in a similar situation, but we have one server in a hosted facility in the US that was running RH9. We need to upgrade its Campsite install to 2.3, but as you know, there are problems with that. So we first have to upgrade the server from RH9 to FC4, and doing so remotely was something we didn't know much about.

Luckily, we found a page that explained the process, and Ondra has been able to begin the upgrade process.

The page is at:

http://www.brandonhutchinson.com/Upgrading_Red_Hat_Linux_with_yum.html

Hope this helps,

doug

Re: upgrading a remote server from RH9 to FC4 using yum

Thanks Ondra,

I've updated the item in the Campsite documentation to reflect this.

Has everyone seen the new Campsite online documentation, by the way?

http://code.campware.org/manuals/campsite/2.3/

You can also contribute comments to manual items, so feel free to post your own notes.

Re: [Campsite Support] XML error: Undeclared entity

What shell are you running? I suppose it's not bash because it doesn't expand
the * properly. That's why you get the errors.

Re: [Campsite Support] XML error: Undeclared entity

I have the feeling there is bash, but the problem might be in PHP5.
I have PHP4 everywhere and I have the feeling PHP5 did some problems
last I tried it.
Second problem is, You are using lots of debug info. That can cause
problems, so turn it of.

Almost There

I've been working on installing Campsite and it appears as though
everything installed properly.

I'm using version 2.3.0

I can access most of the /admin pages just fine, and I see the content
from the demo-package.

Some problems are:

Accessing the main site just gives a blank page.
In the Admin section, Content->Publications shows nothing.
In the Admin section, Actions->Add New Publication show nothing.
In the Admin section, Configure->Logs shows nothing.

Any ideas what could be the problem, or how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Re: Almost There

A template problem could be to blame. In the Admin section,
Configure->Templates gives me a list of *.tpl files, as well as an img
dir. However, if I click the option to create a new template, I get
another blank page.

I have no idea where to begin to look to solve this.
