Re: [Campsite Support] RSS , headlines list

Hi,

I don't know how is your RSS feed template implemented but if you're using the "List Article"
statement then you can easily order the articles by number:

List Article .. Order byNumber asc/desc

See also the manual: http://code.campware.org/manuals/campsite/2.6/index.php?id=75

Mugur

Does anyone of you have an idea on how to solve this?

Re: root access

Hello all,

as for campsite, there is an option to install campsite without root
access. But you need to have at least shell access.
However the best results we have if the installing person has root
access to install all dependencies and to install campsite to proper
folders.
Also thanks to need of Apache virtual host enabled it is way simpler to
install it on empty box than on hosting environment powered by cpanel.

As for template design, it is very simple, but you usually spend huge
time by tweaking the design and publication structure. therefore the
main process is not a thing you will do in one day, even though you can.
Therefore my advice is if you want to try, to try install campsite
locally on some testing PC and try it there.

Re: Re[2]: root access

Chuck,

Out of curiosity, have you tried our demo (http://campsite-demo.campware.org/admin)?

Other than that, wait for the hosters to wake up and see if they can offer you some testing deal (they are based in Prague and Amman, respectively).

The nonroot access has been tried, but as far as I can remember, Mugur, the chief developer was warning against it (read: it was a hard thing with uncertain success). And BTW, we are in the process of rewriting the Campsite parser into php, so you could host it wherever. Unfortunately, other demands on the development team have pushed this all the way to February.

Best,

Sava

Sava,

I saw on the Campsite - site - that there was an option for
non-root access.  We've been trying now for weeks to test
Campsite and to find a hosting company that we can use for the
testing and have had no luck!

We really think that Campsite is what we've spent two years
searching for but until we can fully test we can't be sure.

Thanks,

chuck

Apache 2.2 and campsite

Hi all,
I am unsure if any of you tried to use campsite on Apache 2.2, but it
does not work, due to default campsite Apache config. The problem is,
that Apache 2.2 does not have mod_access, but has the access ability
itself. Therefore in campsite config you need to comment out the checks
for mod_access module:

        <Directory /usr/local/campsite/www/campsite/html>
                        Options -Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
                        AllowOverride All
# <IfModule mod_access.c>
                                Order allow,deny
                                Allow from all
# </IfModule>
        </Directory>
        <Directory /usr/local/campsite/www/campsite/cgi-bin>
                AllowOverride All
                Options ExecCGI
# <IfModule mod_access.c>
                        Order allow,deny
                        Allow from all
# </IfModule>
        </Directory>

this small tweak will help.

I know most of you are skilled enough to find this yourselves, but
knowing this might help someone.

Comment Posts

I'm having some difficulty with comment posts...

The error I'm getting is:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in
/usr/local/campsite/www-common/html/comment_lib.php on line 150

I'm unable to post any comments to a story that has no comments.
However, if an old story has comments, I am able to post additional
comments.

TIA,
Chris

Re: Installing a test site

Good afternoon !

you can use the campsite-create-instance command to create a new
instance, then you should copy the files from 'files', 'images' and
'look' directories from the original 'www' directory to the new
instance 'www' directory. finally you should copy the data from the
original database to the new instance database.

i know there are the campsite-backup-instance and
campsite-restore-instance commands and they create a full copy from an
instance and restore it, but i believe restoring will overwrite the
current working instance.

site alias problem

Hi,

I have new installation of campsite 2.6.3 on Fedora Core 4
(mysql-4.1.16, php-5.0.4, httpd-2.0.54), database was upgraded from
2.1.6. Virtual hosts for apache are set correctly, the same for
publication inside of campsite administration. But I can not open the
website. Every time i get error: "Internal out of range error:
invalid publication alias... ". I can access admin interface
normally. In apache error log, I can find:
PHP Notice: Undefined variable: argc in /usr/local/campsite/www-
common/html/index.php on line 31
for every attempt to open the site. Installation was without any
problems.

Can somebody help me with that?

Thank you,
Michal
