Help installing please, I'm about to give up!

Hello mrbs-general,

  Here's my problem: I don't know MySQL or php!!

  Here's what I want to do: simple room booking over the web.

  Here's what I have: Domain (shared ip administered through c-panel)
                      FTP, phpMyAdmin, MySQL, Apache, etc...

  What I've done: Uploaded the 'web' directory, edited config.inc.php
  & mysql.inc; cerated a MySQL database; installed the tables (through
  phpMyAdmin; added the sample-data.sql

  I get this error: Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in
/home/wwwebau/public_html/mrbs/mysql.inc on line 7

  I would LOVE someone to get this working for me and to point me in
  the direction of the 'error of my ways'.

  Failing being able to interest anyone in this simple task, for the
  knowledgeable, I would appreciate some assistance in resolving this
  error.

  There's a (very few) $$ in it for someone who would take on the task
  of just getting it working (and pointing out where I've gone wrong).

Erm, why did you edit mysql.inc, there should be no need to edit
anything other than config.inc.php

Seeing as you've editted mysql.inc, I've no idea what error you've
introduced.

TinyMCE

When I use the TinyMCE editor text is very dark grey on a black background so is almost unreadable unless I select it.  Is there a fix for this?

RE: mrbs-general digest, Vol 1 #1049 - 1 msg

I've set one up where the non-user fills out a form, then it emails the
information to the administrator. I have thought about creating/using
approve/disapprove code, but haven't had the time to work on it. If
you'd like, I'd be glad to share code with you.

Thanks,

I've only just now learnt what TinyMCE is by Googling. I suggest if you
have a problem with TinyMCE you talk to the TinyMCE people, not the MRBS
people...

RE: mrbs-general digest, Vol 1 #1050 - 4 msgs

Sorry this took so long. The solution I used is quite simple. At the
beginning of edit_entry.php, there is this section:

	if(!getAuthorised(getUserName(), getUserPassword(), 1))
	{
		showAccessDenied($day, $month, $year, $area);
		exit;
	}

I added another "if" statement to see if someone is logged-in (or not).

if (getUserName())
{
	$request = 0;
	if(!getAuthorised(getUserName(), getUserPassword(), 1))
	{
		showAccessDenied($day, $month, $year, $area);
		exit;
	}

} else {
	$request = 1;
}

Based on the value of $value, we tell which "form" statement we will
use:

<?php
if ($request == 1)
{
print "<h2>Request Room</H2>";

print "<FORM NAME=\"main\" ACTION=\"requestmail.php\" METHOD=\"POST\">";

} else {
print "<h2>Add new entry</H2>";

print "<FORM NAME=\"main\" ACTION=\"edit_entry_handler.php\"
METHOD=\"GET\">";

}
?>

The file "requestmail.php" processes the form information, and sends an
email to the administrator.
The Administrator reviews the information, and adds it to the calendar.
eventually, I'd like to be able to create an approve/disapprove setup.
If any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

configure "config.inc.php" & c_panel

Hello mrbs-general,

      I am trying to get MRBS to work. Please assist/advise where you
      can.

      Here's what I have done:

      unpacked the files & copied the "web" directory to my
      public_html folder then renamed it to "mrbs".

      Using c_panel I have created a MySQL database with the name
      "mrbs" which seems to have been renamed to "domain_mrbs".

      I created a user with all privileges called "user1" with a
      password of "pass1".

      The c-panel MySQL now shows this as "domain_user1".

      In phpMyAdmin I have run "tables.my.sql and the tables appear to
      have been created successfuly.

      Now I have to tackle "config.inc.php".

      $dbsys = "mysql";
      $db_host = "localhost";
      $db_database = "domain_mrbs";
      $db_login = "user1";
      $db_password = 'pass1';
      $db_tbl_prefix = "mrbs_";

      $unicode_encoding = 0;

      The error I get is:
"
Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Access denied for user: 'user1 <at> localhost'
(Using password: YES) in /home/domain/public_html/mrbs/mysql.inc on line 224

Fatal Error: Failed to connect to database
"
       My naive mind suggests that I have not got the user-name,
       password, database-name correct, but what am I to use?

       The 'raw' 'username' etc... or the 'domain_username' or is it
       that there should be " " rather than ' ' around the argument
       for $db_password? Or is there something else which I have
       missed?

       I am NOT able to get shell access to the WWW site but am able
       to use phpMyAdmin, FTP & c_panel.

       Any and all suggestions are most welcome.

       Thanks...
