Hello Leonardo,

Any chance you prepare a parts update soon to match 2009-02

Thanks in advance,

Re: parts update 2009-02

I'll do it on the weekend, I've been distracted with other projects but the update deserves some attention. :)

Compiling under 64-bit Linux

Hi all,

I successfully built leocad-0.75 under 32-bit versions of Slackware
Linux, but have had less success with the 64-bit version.

I found the "patch64.txt" file and applied the patches to the source code.
After this it compiled without errors and the program loads fine.
But deleting a piece and undoing the delete always crashes the program
(Segmentation fault).
This does not happen with the 32-bit compilation.

I also tried the 'trunk', or 0.76 version from svn, which compiles w/o
problems but gives a segfault when trying to load it.

Any ideas where I should look?

Thanks,

Please try branches/leocad-0.75 revision 836. Use branches, not tags... I decided to try to keep svn tags a little less confusing from now on. :)

Following LeoCAD official parts update

Terrain Editor

A long time ago I added the Terrain Editor, the idea was to help users make some backgrounds so that things wouldn't be just floating in the air (and I also had interest in learning how to generate geometry from parametric surfaces).

Now I think it's a useless feature because if you want to make a nice scene you'll use POV and instructions don't really need it so to reduce feature bloat I was thinking about removing it. Would anyone be against it?

I agree. I think it's a good idea to focus on instructions.

Re: Terrain Editor

Thanks for the answers everyone, it looks like no one is going to miss it if it's gone.

Recently I had to use Maya at work and I hated its bloated UI so much that it made me take a look at what LeoCAD features weren't really needed for building models to avoid looking like that. I also saw a few interesting things and I got some good ideas from Maya.

Also, this week I checked in support for reading ldconfig.ldr colors so now you won't depend on me for color updates anymore (and you can have your own color schemes).
