On newer versions of Kicad, libraries that have been coverted by eagle2kicad are raising errors.

Mostly the error that I get it's :

Re: Question on Jumper Layer Type

Hi! I would really like to understand how to use the KiCAD jumper layer also. I set up a PCB as a four layer board
with a top and bottom jumper layer. Unfortunately when exported to FreeRouting.net autorouter only the
Component and Copper layers actually appeared.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a FAQ or documentation which explains how to use jumper layers in KiCAD and FreeRouting.net?

Thanks in advance! Andrew Lynch

library/module standard path

Hello,

using some of my own symbol/footprint libraries I would rather like them
to be included by default in a new project than adding them manually for
each project. I know I could just move/copy my libraries to my
/usr/share/kicad/ directory, however I'd like to keep my "user" stuff
out of the "system" paths, as I do not want to mess with my package
manager (in either way: I keep out of it's things and it won't touch my
libraries in any way :-)).

Unfortunately my (admit: rather quick) googleing did not provide any
help on this, so I'm asking here: Is there some - preferabely
user-specific - config file or menu option etc. where I could set the
directories being scanned for modules/symbols? I know in the "add/remove
library" dialogs there is a list of currently used directories which, in
my case, includes
/usr/share/kicad/[modules|librariy]/
/usr/share/kicad/template
and the current project path. However, I can't figure a way to modify
this list.

Thank you in advance.

Best wishes,
Oliver

Re: library/module standard path

The kicad defaults are loaded from the kicad.pro file found in

/usr/local/share/kicad/template

Either open this as you would a normal project, add your libs with
whatever path you like and resave. After that any new project will get
your libs by default.

Or you can also directly edit the file if you prefer with a text editor.
The paths are quite obvious when you look at the file.

What this will not do is change any existing projects, you will have to
to that manually for each project.

RE: library/module standard path

Hi

There is a template ".pro" file from where all new project are build.
You can add your own paths/libs to this file and so they will show up
whenever youcreate a new project.

The template file is "kicad.pro" at the .../Kicad/share/template/ folder.

Either open it with a text editor and copy/paste the paths/libs info from
one of your projects, or directly open it from kicad and use standard libs
setup to include your libs.

Best regards

Jorge

Rasberry Pi bcm2835 cluster pannel made in kicad as a open source kickstarter?

Rasberry Pi bcm2835 cluster pannel made in kicad as a open source kickstarter project? What do you guys think?

It has a GPU similar to the first xboxes so I hear there are gpu clusters and it runs linux that can cluster.

So if the pannels could be stacked could a rasberry pi pannel robot assembled at advanced assembly and board
made at dorkbotpdx be used to make a cluster similar to something like the ibm blue brain?

1000 artificial neurons were in eatch of their processors 16000 so if more neurons could be in eatch
rasberry could that work better?

ted talks connectome and the video on the blue brain that are with that are very interesting.

Re: Rasberry Pi bcm2835 cluster pannel made in kicad as a open source kickstarter?

An interesting idea, but where would you buy BCM2835 chips from? And once purchased, would you be able to
sign an NDA with Broadcom to get the information required to use the GPU? The Raspberry Pi foundation
benefit from a unique relationship with Broadcom. If I was starting an open source project, I wouldn't
start with a Broadcom chip!

This topic is somewhat tangential to Kicad, and perhaps should be discussed somewhere else, although I am
not sure where...

Re: Rasberry Pi bcm2835 cluster pannel made in kicad as a open source kickstarter?

One of the things about the high-performance clusters is the "interconnect" - the processing boards do an awful lot more than simply shuttle data over the ethernet.  Perhaps you can make a stack of RaspberryPi with ethernet connections to an 80-way switch  and have a pretty decent Beowulf cluster, but the architecture would be quite different from, say, an SGI-UV (I don't know anything about the IBM Blue Brain). The memory, storage, and other things work against getting high performance out of the Raspberry but as a dedicated stack it could have its uses - the challenge is coming up with a use and then getting someone else to pay for it. :)
