I contacted my webhost for help here, since there was no obvious place that php.ini could be modified (its on
a shared hosting environment).

However they told me that I could create a php.ini file in the root directory of my webspace which would be
read by php, to overwrite any existing configuration.
I created the php.ini file with an increased max upload filesize of 32Mb.

However when I loaded the flyspray issue editing page again, I could no longer see any form elements that
would allow me to upload a file. I then renamed the php.ini file and reloaded the issue edit page. The upload
functionality returned.
It seems that Flyspray did not like the configuration provided in the php.ini override, and chose to hide
the file upload elements on the issue editing screen.

Everything else worked ok, and I could edit the issue.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be the case. My webhost support is completely useless with this.
I would have thought that either flyspray would ignore the php.ini I created and just keep the upload limit
at 2Mb, or crash entirely. I found it odd that the upload functionality was suddenly hidden away in the interface.

Hi flyspray developers/community contributors,

I just wanted to say thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining flyspray.

Originally when searching for an issue tracking system, I spent many weeks reviewing alternative solutions, including reviewing many hosted/cloud solutions.

At the end of the day the cost was the biggest factor for our small indie game development team, Gnomic Studios.

We needed an issue tracking system that could run on the webhost that we already had paid for, using PHP and MySQL.

I had my doubts that Flyspray would be suitable and worried that I would setup everything only to be stuck with no support on a technical problem later on, or to have the rest of the team reject the system and not use it.

However I am happy to say that we have been successfully using Flyspray for 6 months now. We have over 200 issues raised across 2 projects, have a nice customised theme, and have created a reasonable workflow for our issues (with only a little hacking), that is working well with our development methodology.

There are some minor annoyances and quirks, but these aside, the developers in the team are actively using the system every day.

That means flyspray cleverly determined that you can't upload a file
with that configuration.

Sure, must be because your new php.ini either has file_uploads directive
set to off or there is a different issue with it.

First, flyspray does not read php.ini (that would be pretty crazy) but
it uses ini_get() to access the relevant pieces of the current running
configuration.

It is a way to avoid users trying to upload a file, when it is doomed to
fail, though I agree it is a "bit too much magical" ;)

Create PHP file with <? phpinfo(); ?> command in it and check your 
configuration before and after you run php.ini. Check below on clues of 
what is wrong:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.file-upload.common-pitfalls.php

Also you might want to use htaccess file to set some specific PHP 
values. See this:
http://php.net/manual/en/configuration.changes.php

how long will the task take to complete.
