Re: WombatShare 3rd party Sharing possibility...

Right ;) Finally WombatShare is going opensource
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/wombatshare). I've implemented basic
HTTP Authentication so normal users's will have the ability to secure
their nodes, now I can get around to stashing the code on sourceforge
[finally] (There's a weird stability issue that I'm trying to track
down before I can release it)

Hopefully by being on sourceforge clever folks can find all the flaws in
the software (of which there are likely to be a fair few) such as
over-flow conditions.

I've tried to get the Zinf code compiling under VC6 with minimal luck
would anyone be interested in helping me try to integrate WombatShare
functionality into Zinf [now that its open-sourced?]

WombatShare now open source

Hi, I'm on the verge of releasing WombatShare to Open source now [as
discussed a while ago]. Would anyone like to help me integrate it into
Zinf as I can't get Zinf to build just yet ;)

Is it possible to bundle seperate plugins for zinf or do things have to
be integrated into the source tree ?
(Just for a refresher, WombatShare's available at
http:\\www.wombatinvasion.com )

Thanks
- Ciaran

Compiling Zinf

I'm trying to write a plugin for my WombatShare protocol for Zinf but I
can't get Zinf to compile under any platform do the current source
tarballs/zips actually work ? Do I need to get a cut from CVS, can
anyone give me any tips here ?
Thanks,
 -Ciaran

Re: Compiling Zinf

You need to have quite a few development
packages installed to get zinf to compile on linux.
The configure script will usually give you a hint
as to what's missing, but it's output can be cryptic
at times. Send errors to the list and someone will give
you a hand.

If you are compiling for windows, then there may be still
a few members on the list that were attempting this but
it was quite a while ago that I heard from them.
Same thing send the errors to the list and see if anybody
can help.

Re: Compiling Zinf

Hmm, its possible I've fubar'ed my debian install, *sigh* I think its a
'arts' dependancy that I hat *thought* was installed but it currently
looks as though it isn't :( I'll have to re-install/fix this problem,
seems that apt-get's more than a little confused!

I don't know the about the last time anyone managed to compile Zinf using
the provided visual c++ project files in the source (I never managed it),
but I have recently been attempting to compile Zinf using mingw and gtk
for win32 with some success.

I've so far managed to get working the base zinf executable, the local
file pmi, the wav lmc, and the soundcard pmo, as well as the gtk versions
of the zinf theme ui, and the musicbrowser ui. I haven't yet attempted to
compile any of the other plugins but I imagine it should be possible to
compile most without too much hassle (the main problem is likely to be the
many many dependencies needed). So, with modifications, the current cvs
version, using the current gtk ui's, can at least play wav files under
windows.

If anyone is interested, I can put an arch/tla branch online with the
changes and makefiles I've made so far (I should warn that I have had to
make quite a few quick/dirty hacks so don't think I've got them all fully
working nicely yet)

Re: Compiling Zinf

This is excellent news. I would definitely be interested
in seeing your environment and think others might take a look too.
Please add the branch to your public repository and send
us a pointer.

OK, I've made avaliable the branch zinf--mingw--0.1 in my repository at
http://www-student.cs.york.ac.uk/~djh123/zinf/arch2004/ It now compiles
the xingmp3 plugin as well. And as it ain't exactly nice downloading code
from an arch repository when using windows, I've also included a patch
against the CVS version (you can get "patch" from the msys development
kit):
http://www-student.cs.york.ac.uk/~djh123/zinf/zinf-mingw.diff

To actually get it to compile, you'll first need to install both mingw and
msys (http://www.mingw.org/) You will also need to get the GTK Runtime
Environment and the GTK Development Environment
(http://www.dropline.net/gtk/)

The development environment needs to be installed in the same place that
mingw was installed, and you will need to make sure the runtime location
is in the system path (see http://www.dropline.net/gtk/support.php). I had
to add the line
SET Path=%Path%;"D:\Program Files\Common Files\GTK\2.0\lib"
to autoexec.bat to actually get this to work in Win98, but the dropline
website does describe other ways of doing it.
