Problem with the Chords

Dear Musedit Friends:

In the past, I have never had problems inserting chords into my
compositions on musedit. I just pull up the menu item, hit insert
chord, choose my chord, and in it goes.

A new problem developed last week, though. I tried to insert a chord,
and I got the following error message:

"There is a problem opening museditc.dll, which is needed to create
new chords. This file must be located in the windows/system folder".

I understand that it says it's missing a component or driver. But
I don't understand what I am to do. It worked before, so it had the
right thing before. What do I do to get it work now?

thanks, in advance, if anyone can help me with this.

RE: Problem with the Chords

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Chords in a bass cleft

I continue to enjoy using Musedit. For me, Musedit is a way to create
a simple song, record a MIDI playback, and then use the result as a
sample in my software synthesizer.

I just released my second album. Whereas with my first album, we
recorded with analog "real life" instruments, several songs on the
new album, Eerie Exchange Prairie Park, were created starting with
Musedit, then morphing the resulting song in a synthesizer, and so
forth.

If you'd like to hear a song which started as a Musedit piece, and
then morphed into ambient music, you can hear one free at:

http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=2865292&q=lo

I posted my whole album for free download. I have a day job.

But here's my question.

I like to use the chords function, and after re-install, I think it
will work well again. But I'd like to write chords in deeper
octaves. When I try to put a chord in the bass cleft, the program
does not permit this.

Is there a way I can put a chord in the treble cleft, and then
tell the program to play it an octave or two lower?

Thanks for your help!

==========

I am attaching a musedit file showing chords (triads) in
several octaves, in both treble and bass clefs.

Some Questions

I’ve just begun studying the MusEdit manual and had few questions. Is there a “count in” that can be set at the beginning of each song and where in the manual can I find that option? I looked in the manual index and searched help index for “count in” and couldn’t find anything.

Also when I switch from MusEdit to a word document, the tool box remains in view.

When I play a line of tablature, the cursor is visually ahead of the sound. Is that normal?

Lastly, where in the manual can I find out how to hear notes as they’re put into tablature?

Thanks,

Paul

I don't use the MIDI features often (I use Cakewalk for that), so I can't help you there.

Your toolbox is set to always be on top.  You can turn this off.  I'm not at my home computer so I don't know the exact process.

From my experience, yes.

Lastly, where in the manual can I find out how to hear notes as they're put into tablature?

Again, can someone here help Paul who knows more about the MIDI?  I don't think I've ever heard the note as it was entered, but again, I only use it sparingly--mainly to hear a section and make sure it sounds right.
