you're probably referring to '-t:secs' (-tl enables looping). Anyways,
I've just commited support for '-t:-1' (and 'cs-set-length -1') to CVS.
Will be included in the 2.3.3 release.

I've now finally committed this ECI Guide update to CVS, and also updated
the online docs to the latest versions:

This is now fixed in CVS. Will be in 2.3.3.

This is still open, and will be until 2.3.4. :(

Same for this issue.

Thanks, committed to CVS.

No problem, nice to hear from you again. :)

Again no problem. Visecas currently is anything but in development. I

2.3.3 almost released :)

Hello list,

I was planning to release 2.3.3 today, but due to some last minute
problems, I'll have to postpone the release to tomorrow (the earliest).

I've managed to clean up my todo-list quite a bit for 2.3.3, but
some important fixes had to be postponed (like the problems in
EIAM operator list commands reported by Jan Weil) to 2.3.4. This is
unfortunate, but as it's already 5 months since last release, it's better
to do the release now.

But, but, if there's any last minute updates that should go to 2.3.3,
there still some time left to send them to me... :)

eca problem (perhaps a bug)

Hi all!
The eca-effect seems to have a problem. When I use it in realtime, listening
to it, everything seems ok. But when I do just something like:
  ecasound -i n1.wav -o o1.wav -eca:0,0,0,0 (which should give standard
parameters), I find, that the beginning of the file o1.wav gets louder over
one or two seconds. Then it finds its level.
I discussed this with Fons while talking about compressors in general, and
he suggested, that the compressor might be in a wrong state, when it starts in
nonrt.
  Any idea, suggestions or workarounds?
  Kindest regards
       Julien

ecasound 2.3.3 released

Hello all,

this year's first stable Ecasound release is now out!

And while I'm at it, here are some recent interesting Eca-related
links and news items:

  * http://4ms.org/influx9/
  * http://www.agnula.org/documentation/dp_tutorials/no-x/
  * http://emi.thevtek.com/

But now, back to the 2.3.3 release. CVS is tagged with 'v2_3_3' as usual,
and here are the details...:

1. Summary of changes

Bugs in ecasignalview, effect presets, NetECI protocol parser
and the C ECI implementation have been fixed. Many build system
issues, including errors in building against libsndfile-1.0.4
and older, have been resolved. A separate section covering
ecasound.el, the ecasound emacs interface, has been added to
the Ecasound Control Interface Guide. The Ecasound User's Guide
has also been updated.

---
2. What is Ecasound?

Ecasound is a software package designed for multitrack audio
processing. It can be used for simple tasks like audio playback,
recording and format conversions, as well as for multitrack effect

I'm having trouble compiling ecasound, but I can't compile 2.3.2 now
either, so I think there's something wrong with my system. I'm just
wondering if anyone else is having problems with this.

make fails like this:
    PROCEDURE_TIMER::to_string() const':
kvu_procedure_timer.cpp:147: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.

cvs-commit; fix to multitrack offset calculation

Hello list,

just committed to CVS:

xx082004 (v2.3.4) -** stable release **-
	- fixed: multitrack offset was calculated incorrectly for
ALSA devices which limit buffer period count to 2

... so basicly this causes a slight error in positioning a new recorded
track in relation to the refence (monitor) track. The size of error varies
depending on -b:XXX and -z:intbuf/-z:nointbuf settings...

Cards based on cs4281, rme9652, ice1712 (2ch/consumer mode), and possible
some others, are affected by this issue.

edi-14 closed (was: Re: ecawave vs gcc-3.0)

Hi,

this mail probably sets the list record... here's an update to an issue
raised nearly three years ago! :)

On Sat, 18 Aug 2001, Patrick Shirkey wrote:

> Another thing I am wondering is if it would be possible to add a command

This later became development item 'edi-14', but was never actually
implemented. Fortunately the very latest 2.3.3 release finally resolves
this issue. The new 'auto' value for 'default-output' is itself the
default setting, and will make Ecasound choose ALSA over OSS if ALSA was
available during compile time.

So I guess we can finally closed this item:

<http://www.wakkanet.fi/~kaiv/ecasound/edi.html>:
(edi-14): Making ALSA the default output device with a compile
	  time options.
	- submitted: Patrick Shirkey, 18.8.2001
	- not implemented: kaiv, 12.05.2004 (workaround in 2.3.3)
