Support for Multiple Tags of the same type

Dear all,

I have been using easytag for some time via debian but reasently foudn
a big probelm with it.

I want to tag a file with multiple Genre fields and easy tag wipes all
but one tag.

I was wondering if easytag has plans to support multiple tags, and user
defined tags for flac and ogg files.

A brief look at easytags source hinted that this might be a big change.

Is anyone else interested in thsi or working on this?

I saw a cryptic message on the changelog for the dev version:

"Fixed saving Ogg and Flac files with multifields and warn if the year
value will be truncated (thanks to Zohaib Hassan),"

Is this what I am looking for (the ability to easily manage multiple
tags of teh same type), if it is I havent worked out how to enable
tagging a file with 5+ genres and 5+ authors.

Regards

Owen

Exactly how do you do that? There is only one Genre field to write in,
right?

Re: multiple genres for a song

Hi Johnny,

Thanks for the quick response.  I apologize for repeating the same question here but I wasn't able to find anything on this topic.  I use gmusicbrowser and it handles multiples genres quite nice.  Do you know what program to use to tag mp3 files with multiple genres?  I try id3tag but it only write one genre.

Thanks,

Tri

Someone asked that very recently and I replied that I didn't think that was possible with EasyTAG or any other TAG programs that I've heard of. Personally I do it with a script, but the problems is that I didn't find any media players that can read it properly.

If you are into scripting, you could write a bash script for writing multiple anything to your files if they are FLAC files at least. You need to install the FLAC package for that and use METAFLAC for writing and extracting tags.

FLAC itself supports multiple tags of any kind and you are encouraged to use multiple tags rather than entering a lot of stuff into the same tag, for example the ARTIST tag. FLAC files use the Vorbis tags which are the same as for OGG Vorbis files. If this is supported in other formats, such as MP3 and AAC, I don't know.

Horizontal scroll problem

Hello,

I got a very annoying bug in Easytag. When I press page down in the main screen, it horizontally scroll the window a bit, so it won't stay in the same horizontal position I were before. When I just click in the screen, it scrols to the right a bit and then returns to the same position. It does that everytime I change the focus on a line on screen, even when saving files, it takes a lot longer because it scrolls the window on each file saved.
Of all tag editors I have seen Easytag is the best, that's why I don't want to give up on it.
Someone knows something about this ? I use Ubuntu 10.10 and Easytag 2.1.6 (not easytag-acc). I also tested this problem in Easytag-acc 2.1.5 but it has the same problem.

Re: Horizontal scroll problem

I forgot one thing:
The "Mantain focus in the same tag field"* option in configurations is setted.
The behaviour seams similar to the other (non setted) option: "Return focus to the first tag field"*. So I tried to change to it and then return the settings to the right option. But it won't set this option. It remains in "Mantain focus in the same tag field" option.
I tried to manually change it on the configuration file (easytagrc) and found these lines:

set_focus_to_same_tag_field=1
set_focus_to_first_tag_field=0

tried all combination, nothing happens. When I change easytag returns them to the configuration above.

*The "Mantain focus in the same tag field" and "Return focus to the first tag field" phrases where a free translation. My Easytag is in portuguese and I don't know the exact english text.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
