Re: Problem with some MP3s Tags

Hi,

Which version of EasyTAG are you using? the last one 1.99.12?
What are you doing exactly? changing the tag with EasyTAG, then checking
tag informations in Rhythmbox?
Are you changing the both tag ID3v1 and ID3v2?

Regards,
Jerome

Questions

I've been using EasyTag 1.99.12 and I was wondering if anyone could
tell me how to:
Change the language
Store the song lyrics

I was wondering because in the readme file it says something like:
"set language=FR" but I don't know where that is. And I couldn't find
the lyrics menu, so I was wondering if it gives you the option to
paste them.

Thanks in advance, Hernán J. Ferrer

Re: Questions

Oops, I forgot. I have an issue regarding the preferences, since I
can't make the application save the changes I've made in the
Preferences menu, it always restarts with the default options.

Re: Re: Questions

Hi Lomas,
The set LANGUAGE=FR is a command you have to introduce at the commandline. But
bbetter is to add that 'export LANGUAGE=FR' (without the quotes) in
your .bashrc file, in your home directory. To save the options Go to
preferences, make the changes you wanna do, and click save. If you quit the
app in clean manner, via file>	quit, your settings shouldve be saved.
otherwise, make sure your permissions of the settins file are ok.

good luck

sort list by property --> creation date

Hi all,

First, I have to say: Easytag is a great program and it keeps getting
better. Thanks to Jérôme et al for all the good work.

There is something about sorting by date which is confusing me. Using
Grip, I have ripped a three-CD opera recording into a single
directory, which now contains 71 audio files. My next step would be to
sort by creation date (ascending) and then recalculate the track
numbers so they run from 1 to 71.

However, I notice that after I sort by date, they are out of sequence.
The tracks from the first CD are ordered between the second and the
third.

Ok, there may be an explanation for this. After I ripped the second
CD, I noticed there was a typo in the title of first CD, and the
output files were written to a different directory by Grip. So I
copied them to the correct directory with cp -p. Then I ripped the
third.

So now Easytag sorts them out of sequence. Yet if I go to a terminal
window and type "ls -lrt", which sorts the 71 files by time, they are
in correct sequence.

Is Easytag using a different time-stamp criteria, such as "Last
access", for sorting? Why the discrepancy with the bash shell?
Obviously, I prefer the way the shell sorts things. ;)

Re: EasyTAG 1.99.12 - patch_id3lib_3.8.3_UTF16_writing_bug.diff

Hi, I am Czech and I hope mentioned patch works also for ours special
characters (i.e. ěščřžýáíéďťň). I tried to apply it but I somehow failed
because easytag (latest version, 1.99.12) still gives me the message about
bug id3lib.
I made this - downloaded latest id3lib sources, untarred it, downloaded
the patch and copied it to directory with the file that is being modified
io_helpers.cpp

patch gave me an error message that I think was about not patching the
changelog.

tom <at> tom:~/Desktop/id3lib-3.8.3/src$ patch ./io_helpers.cpp
./patch_id3lib_3.8.3_UTF16_writing_bug.diff
patching file ./io_helpers.cpp
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file ./io_helpers.cpp.rej

I then compiled id3lib and installed it (with checkinstall). However,
when I run Easytag, it is complaining again (and not working), although it
recompiled that as well. Any ideas what could ho wrong?

Moving files from a folder

Hello,
I really appreciate the handling of renaming a folder and their files
therein; everything happens seamlessly, and it's something I do quite
often.

I was wondering if it'd be possible, when this happens, to refresh the
tree and make sure that it refreshes to a valid folder. Refreshing is
necessary to see the folder you just created, and when I do it
manually, I have to switch to another folder because it will say
"invalid path" and make me renavigate if I simply refresh on the old
folder.

I hope this makes sense. :)
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Re: EasyTAG 1.99.12 - patch_id3lib_3.8.3_UTF16_writing_bug.diff

Hi Tomáš,

You just placed the patch in the wrong directory :
- you must copy the file in the same directory which contains id3lib
untarred (if you have ~/tmp/id3lib-3.8.3, the patch should be moved into
~/tmp/)
- then in the ~/tmp/ directory, apply the patch with the command : "cat
patch_xxx.diff |patch -p0"

Regards,
Jerome

Is there a wiki or similar? I am also in need of basic documentation. I find no man or info page, etc, on my computer.
