Winamp plugin + mlipod interaction...?

Hi
How does the Winamp plugin work if it can't get to the server to tell it
what got listened to - does it cache items and queue them up for later?
I'm curious, because there's this project ml iPod
(http://www.mlipod.com/index.php), which enables iPod users (of which
I'm not one, sadly) to use Winamp instead of iTunes to manage the music
on their iPods. I guess this also includes the media library statistics
like times played, and when, etc. I was just thinking it could be cool
for disconnected scrobbling - the iPod tracks which songs were played
via this piece of software (I hope), and then when the iPod is hooked up
to a computer, could send a diff of the media library statistics to the
computer for the Winamp plugin to scrobble. Am I making some kind of
sense?
Basically, I think it would be cool if audioscrobbler could be extended
to track iPod listening habits too. What are the chances?
Regards
Pete
