Error Message when starting Apache 2.0 on Windows ME

I am receiving the following message when starting the Apache server on
Windows ME with/or without a firewall:

C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache
[Tue Aug 31 23:50:24 2004] [crit] (OS 10038)Socket operation on
non-socket: make
_sock: for address 127.0.0.1:80, apr_socket_opt_set: (SO_KEEPALIVE)
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

Is anyone familiar with what might be causing this (or has fixed it
before) ?

Much appreciated

Wilf

Re: Unsubscribe from getting single mails

Yes, but how can I unsubscribe from the single emails without unsubscribing
from the list? I dont see that as an option on the apache.org list user's
page. I guess I will unsubscribe, and then resubscribe with the digest
setting. Bryan

RE: LogOut

I found a solution, but only works on =>IE 6.0 SP1

The site with the solution is:

RE: Adding timeouts to Apache 2.0

Plain text please...

Further to Jim's comments about the inherent difficulties of controlling
client behaviour from the server, I would venture that the game is not
worth the candle.

If you want to implement a timeout, then presumably you are worried
about security. If you're worried about security you shouldn't really be
relying on basic auth... It is a very simple mechanism which can be
penetrated with a limited effort. If you have something genuinely
important to protect, you simply have to use a server-sided session
management application (based on mod_perl, PHP, Cocoon etc.).

To put it another way, if my bank put my account details behind a basic
auth login, I'd close my account immediately.

Owen Boyle

[Please keep it on the list.]

No, I haven't yet been able to. I have to test it at home (for time and
logistic reasons), but my internet connection has been dead.

I sure hope it will work, as Jeroen says it does, although I cannot
understand why it would work. I also wonder if it works correctly with
Content-type, Last-modified, MultiViews, etc.

There must be other ways as well. Perhaps one can do tricks with external
RewriteMaps, or some database auth module.

Apache 2.0.50 adds UTF-8 in header by default even though AddDefaultCharset is Off.

Hello!

I have Apache 2.0.50 setup in a Debian system.

I have tried commenting and setting AddDefaultCharset Off, but the UTF-8
encoding is still added for the Content-Type header unless I explicitly set
it in a CGI, etc.

My static text and HTML files are ISO-8859-1 encoded, the system has no
UTF-8 locales installed and I've commented all AddCharset except the
ISO-8859-1, so how can Apache still add the header?
I have checked the mime control file, it contains no encoding information at
all.

Is there any way to turn this behaviour off?

Also, it only adds the header if I make a HTTP 1.1 request, for 1.0 requests
the Content-Type header is not added.

/Peter Gebauer

As Jim suggested, ditch the icons and work in a console instead.

This sounds like Apache is already running; so that the socket and logs are
already opened.

Use the 2.0 docs, eg:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/platform/windows.html

Have you decided on whether to run as CGI or module? However, forget PHP
until Apache is up and running fine.

Re: Virtualhost

You have three VHs, all pointing to the same IP/port
When Apache gets a request, it will go to the first one that matches.
You need to either have different IPs, different ports or different names.

Assuming you keep port 80, thismeans something like

<VirtualHost A-site:80>
    DocumentRoot /home/A/www
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost B-site:80>
    DocumentRoot /home/B/www
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost C-site:80>
    DocumentRoot /home/C/www
</VirtualHost>

The names "A-site", "B-site" and "C-site" would then point to the same IP

I think you can also use "redirect", but I don't know how.
Anyway, RTFM (F stands for Friendly) :-)

Hope this helps

Luis
